Hypertension testing and treatment in Uganda and Kenya through the SEARCH study: An implementation fidelity and outcome evaluation. [PDF]
BackgroundHypertension (HTN) is the single leading risk factor for human mortality worldwide, and more prevalent in sub-Saharan Africa than any other region [1]-although resources for HTN screening, treatment, and control are few.

Background: Endostatin, cleaved from collagen XVIII in the extracellular matrix, is a promising circulating biomarker for cardiovascular damage. It possesses anti-angiogenic and anti-fibrotic functions and has even been suggested to be involved in blood ...

Hemodynamical Behavior Analysis of Anemic, Diabetic, and Healthy Blood Flow in the Carotid Artery [PDF]
The influence of blood rheology on hemodynamic parameters is investigated using Computational Fluid Dynamics on blood flow through the human carotid artery. We performed three-dimensional modeling and simulation to study blood flow through the carotid artery, which is divided into internal and exterior parts with a decreased radius.

Haemodynamic analysis using multiphase flow dynamics in tubular lesions [PDF]
Background and Objective: The role of red blood cell dynamics is emphasised in certain cardiovascular diseases, and thus needs to be closely studied. A multiphase model of blood flow allows the resolution of locally varying density of red blood cells within a complex vessel geometrical domain, and haemodynamic consequences of such build up.

Dual targeting of AKT and mTOR using MK2206 and RAD001 reduces tumor burden in an intracardiac colon cancer circulating tumor cell xenotransplantation model. Analysis of AKT isoform‐specific knockdowns in CTC‐MCC‐41 reveals differentially regulated proteins and phospho‐proteins by liquid chromatography coupled mass spectrometry. Circulating tumor cells

Age-stratified and blood-pressure-stratified effects of blood-pressure-lowering pharmacotherapy for the prevention of cardiovascular disease and death: an individual participant-level data meta-analysis [PDF]
BACKGROUND: The effects of pharmacological blood-pressure-lowering on cardiovascular outcomes in individuals aged 70 years and older, particularly when blood pressure is not substantially increased, is uncertain. We compared the effects of blood-pressure-

Interplay of integrins and selectins in metastasis
Here we review the role of integrins and their interplay with selectins in metastasis. The efficacy of integrin‐targeted therapies may be reduced in tumors where metastasis relies heavily on selectins. In certain tumors, integrins and selectins exhibit a synergistic interaction during intraperitoneal dissemination.

Targets and self monitoring in hypertension: randomised controlled trial and cost effectiveness analysis [PDF]
Objectives: To assess whether blood pressure control in primary care could be improved with the use of patient held targets and self monitoring in a practice setting, and to assess the impact of these on health behaviours, anxiety, prescribed ...
