The Role of Plasm Lipid Profile on RBC Aggregation and Sedimentation Changes in Diabetic Patients

open access: yesIraqi Journal of Physics, 2002
The aggregation capacity of human reb blood cells lies between that of the non- aggregated arythrocyte and the remarkably full sedimentation. As the ability to aggregate is atributed to many factors such as the availability of macromolecules and plasma ...

Stokes flow applied to the sedimentation of a red blood cell

open access: yes, 2015
. The sedimentation of a red blood cell (RBC) through the blood plasma is described as the translation of a rigid inverted prolate spheroid through a quiescent unbounded viscous fluid.

Genetic diversity and population structure of the Taigan dog breed

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The Taigan is a rare sighthound from the mountains of Kyrgyzstan. We used DNA markers to study its genetic diversity and compare it with other sighthound breeds. Our findings show that the Taigan shares close genetic ties with the Kazakh Tazy, suggesting a common ancestry shaped by nomadic traditions and regional adaptation.

Blood Sedimentation Curves in Pneumonias

open access: yesExperimental Biology and Medicine, 1936
A new micro-pipette and a new method for measuring the sedimentation rate of red blood corpuscles has been described.1 Using this new pipette and method, the present study was made on the blood sedimentation rate in severe cases of pneumonia, both of the broncho and lobar types.Measurements of the sedimentation rates were made at frequent intervals ...

Steady state sedimentation of ultrasoft colloids

open access: yes, 2018
The structural and dynamical properties of ultra-soft colloids - star polymers - exposed to a uniform external force field are analyzed applying the multiparticle collision dynamics approach, a hybrid coarse-grain mesoscale simulation approach, which ...

Matrix: a complex amalgam of structures and functions in tumor microenvironment

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The matrix is a dynamic, intricate three‐dimensional mesh of biomolecules with both structural and functional properties. This review deals with the complexity of this ‘molecular amalgam’ in the tumor microenvironment and highlights its importance in the maintenance and evolution of tumors by describing certain matrix biomolecules, such as ...

Characterization of ribosome heterogeneity during endothelial to hematopoietic transition

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The panorama of ribosome heterogeneity during embryonic hematopoiesis has not yet been portrayed. In this study, utilizing dual‐omics data, the heterogenous dynamic of ribosome during endothelial‐to‐hematopoietic transition has been systemically described. Moreover, stage‐specific upregulation and peripheral localization of RPL27 and RACK1 in hemogenic

Relationship between genetic mutation variations and acute-phase reactants in the attack-free period of children diagnosed with familial Mediterranean fever

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Medical and Biological Research, 2013
Familial Mediterranean fever (FMF) is a periodic autoinflammatory disease characterized by chronic inflammation. This study investigated the relationship between acute-phase reactants and gene mutations in attack-free periods of childhood FMF.
