THE INFLUENCE OF BLOOD VOLUME AND STORAGE DURATION ON THE ERYTHROCYTE SEDIMENTATION RATE (ESR) VALUE USING THE WESTERGREN METHOD

open access: yesJournal of Vocational Health Studies
Background: Hematological examination is conducted to determine the condition of blood and its components, which are used to establish a diagnosis, support a diagnosis, make a differential diagnosis, monitor disease progression, assess the severity of an

Erythropoietin modulates hepatic inflammation, glucose homeostasis, and soluble epoxide hydrolase and epoxides in high‐fat diet‐induced obese mice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Erythropoietin administration suppresses hepatic soluble epoxide hydrolase (sEH) expression, leading to increased CYP‐derived epoxides. This is associated with a shift in hepatic macrophage polarization characterized by reduced M1 markers and increased M2 markers, along with reduced hepatic inflammation, suppressed hepatic lipogenesis, and attenuated ...

3D reconstruction of cerebral blood flow and vessel morphology from x-ray rotational angiography [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Three-dimensional (3D) information on blood flow and vessel morphology is important when assessing cerebrovascular disease and when monitoring interventions.

Development of human monoclonal antibodies against TARM1 by yeast display

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Human monoclonal antibodies against TARM1 are generated by yeast display‐guided selection. These antibodies bind to soluble and cell‐surface forms of TARM1. Also, these antibodies exhibit agonistic activity in the NFAT‐GFP reporter assay, indicating that TARM1 signaling can be functionally modulated by antibodies and suggesting TARM1 as a potential ...

Sprint interval training in the postpartum period maintains the enhanced cardiac output of pregnancy: A case study

open access: yesExperimental Physiology
During pregnancy an increased cardiac output (Q̇) and blood volume (BV) occur to support fetal growth. Increased Q̇ and BV also occur during chronic endurance exercise training and benefit performance.

Evaluation Model of Microhemodynamics in Finger Skin at Arterial Occlusion and Post-Occlusive Hyperemia

open access: yesFluids
The development of optical noninvasive methods for assessing the functional state of peripheral vessels, including the microcirculatory vascular bed, requires advances in modeling peripheral hemodynamics in order to interpret diagnostic data in terms of ...

Establishing an assay to evaluate d‐amino acid oxidase enzyme kinetics and inhibition using WST‐8 redox dye

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This study investigated a novel WST‐8‐based assay for evaluating d‐Amino acid oxidase (DAO) inhibitors. We confirmed its effectiveness using known inhibitors and found that uremic toxins possess relatively weak inhibitory activity compared to existing drugs.

Screening and epitope characterization of Nidogen‐2‐specific nanobodies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Camel immunization and phage display were employed to generate high‐affinity VHH nanobodies against Nidogen‐2. After library construction, biopanning, ELISA screening, sequencing, and recombinant expression, selected nanobodies were purified and characterized, leading to the preliminary exploration of a nanobody‐based sandwich ELISA for specific ...

Intensified training augments cardiac function, but not blood volume, in male youth elite ice hockey team players

open access: yesExperimental Physiology
While it is well‐established that a period of interval training performed at near maximal effort, such as speed endurance training (SET), enhances intense exercise performance in well‐trained individuals, less is known about its effect on cardiac ...
