A venous occlusion plethysmography using a load cell as the sensing element [PDF]
An application of the load cell as a sensor in venous occlusion plethysmography is presented. In this method the limb volume changes that follow venous occlusion are converted into water volume changes using a water tank for volume change detection.

ABSTRACT Background The delipid extracorporeal lipoprotein filter from plasma (DELP) treatment can effectively reduce blood lipid, increase blood flow, and improve neurological deficits in patients with acute ischemic stroke (AIS). However, its effect on vision and retinal microcirculation in stroke patients has never been reported.

A novel method for blood volume estimation using trivalent chromium in rabbit models
Background: Blood volume measurement though important in management of critically ill-patients is not routinely estimated in clinical practice owing to labour intensive, intricate and time consuming nature of existing methods.

ABSTRACT Introduction Cognitive impairment and exercise intolerance are common in dialysis patients. Cerebral perfusion and oxygenation play a major role in both cognitive function and exercise execution; HD session per se aggravates cerebral ischemia in this population. This study aimed to compare cerebral oxygenation and perfusion at rest and in mild

Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Bifidobacterium bifidum establishes symbiosis with infants by metabolizing lacto‐N‐biose I (LNB) from human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs). The extracellular multidomain enzyme LnbB drives this process, releasing LNB via its catalytic glycoside hydrolase family 20 (GH20) lacto‐N‐biosidase domain.

Skeletal muscle oxygen dynamics and peak aerobic capacity
Skeletal muscle O2 dynamics can be measured during whole body dynamic exercise noninvasively by near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS), and muscle O2 dynamics can allow us to estimate muscle O2 extraction.
