Determination of moxifloxacin in dried blood spots using LC–MS/MS and the impact of the hematocrit and blood volume [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Chromatography B: Analytical Technologies in the Biomedical and Life Sciences, 2011
Moxifloxacin (MFX) is a potential oral agent use in the treatment of multidrug-resistance tuberculosis (MDR-TB). Due to variability in pharmacokinetics and in vitro susceptibility of causative bacteria, therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM) of MFX is ...

Errors of the backextrapolation method in determination of the blood volume

Physics in Medicine and Biology, 1999
Backextrapolation is an empirical method to calculate the central volume of distribution (for example the blood volume). It is based on the compartment model, which says that after an injection the substance is distributed instantaneously in the central volume with no time delay. The occurrence of recirculation is not taken into account.

VALUE OF BLOOD VOLUME DETERMINATIONS IN GASTROINTESTINAL DISEASE

Archives of Surgery, 1953
THE THEORETICAL basis for blood volume studies in surgical patients has been well established by many investigators.1More recently, Lyons and his co-workers2have been responsible for reemphasizing the physiologic and therapeutic implications gained from these measurements.

Whole Blood Volume Determinations

Archives of Internal Medicine, 1974
To the Editor. —The work of Valeri and Cooper ( Arch Intern Med 132: 534-538, 1973) shows well the problem of measuring plasma volume accurately with sodium chromate Cr 51 serum albumin. But the authors come to the unwarranted conclusion that the best method of determining whole blood volume is to measure only red blood cell (RBC) mass.

Problems of Blood Volume Determination

1969
Because of the great importance of the volume factor in the management of shock, mortality studies in animal experiments for evaluating the therapeutic effect of plasma substitutes in man should go hand in hand with exact methods for determination of blood volume.
