Nanomaterials for Allergy Diagnosis and Treatment: Advances, Opportunities and Translational Challenges

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Nanomaterials offer dual applications in allergy management. For diagnosis, nanomaterials enhance analytical sensitivity and improve detection in specific IgE and functional assays such as the basophil activation test (BAT). For allergen‐specific immunotherapy, nanomaterials enable allergen masking and controlled release, and effectively modulate the ...

Ultra‐Radiostable Covalent Conformationally Interlocked Networks Enabling a Universal Radiometal‐Labeling Platform for Cancer Radioembolization

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Conjugated poly(imide dioxime)‐based microspheres establish a radiometal coordination‐driven conformational interlocked network with ultra‐high radiostability. This platform enables low‐temperature, multi‐radionuclide labeling for SPECT/PET/MRI imaging and radionuclide therapy. Mechanistic insights from EXAFS and DFT reveal enhanced stability, while in

RPLP2 Mediates the Beneficial Effects of Exercise on Stress Resistance Through Muscle–Brain Communication

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A novel exercise‐inducible myokine acidic ribosomal protein P2 (RPLP2), initially identified from human trials, is presented here, whose circulating levels negatively correlate with clinical anxiety severity. Muscle‐derived RPLP2 enhances hippocampal ribosomal assembly and adult neurogenesis to rescue stress‐induced anxiety deficits.

Economic evaluation and catheter-related bloodstream infections [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Catheter-related bloodstream infections are a serious\ud problem. Many interventions reduce risk, and some have\ud been evaluated in cost-effectiveness studies. We review the\ud usefulness and quality of these economic studies. Evidence\ud is incomplete,

Risk of Inflammatory Bowel Disease Following Hospital‐Treated Infections and Modulatory Role of Host Genetics to Support a Multi‐Hit Pathogenesis Model

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Hospital‐treated infections are linked to increased risk of inflammatory bowel disease in a large prospective cohort. This risk differs by infection burden, time since infection, and host immune‐genetic susceptibility. The findings support a multi‐hit pathogenesis model in which severe infection and inherited susceptibility jointly shape inflammatory ...

Risk factors for vancomycin resistance in patients with Enterococcus faecium bloodstream infections: an analysis of the Munich Multicentric Enterococci Cohort

open access: yesMicrobiology Spectrum
Enterococcus faecium is difficult to treat owing to its intrinsic and acquired resistance to antibiotics, particularly vancomycin. Vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus faecium is an important cause of bloodstream infections in healthcare settings with ...

Lipidomic analysis of bloodstream and procyclic form Trypanosoma brucei [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The biological membranes of Trypanosonza brucei contain a complex array of phospholipids that are synthesized de novo from precursors obtained either directly from the host, or as catabolised endocytosed lipids.
