Flow visualization studies of blowing from the tip of a swept wing [PDF]

open access: yes
Flow visualization studies of blowing from the tip of a swept wing were conducted in the Langley 16- by 24-inch water tunnel. Four wing tips, each with two independent blowing slots, were tested.

Effects of a synthetic jet acting on a separated flow over a hump [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The effects of an oscillatory zero-net-mass-flux jet (i.e. synthetic jet) acting on a separated flow over a hump are investigated in terms of two actuation parameters – actuator position and forcing frequency.

Topological Point Defects in SmC* Liquid Crystals Under Mechanical Disturbance

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Tangetial air jet shear inducess island formation and nucleates topological point defects in uniform SmC films. Island bounded by edge dislocation loops shrink and transform into isolated point defects under continued shear. Mechanical perturbatio provides a controllable route for defect engineering in smectric liquid crystal thin films.

Flap noise measurements for STOL configurations using external upper surface blowing [PDF]

open access: yes
Screening tests of upper surface blowing on externally blown flaps configurations were conducted. Noise and turning effectiveness data were obtained with small-scale, engine-over-the-wing models.

Effect of the CO2 top-blowing ratio on the end of the converter

open access: yes工程科学学报, 2022
When combined with the high-temperature reaction characteristics of carbon dioxide—that is, the weak oxidation, endothermic, or weak exothermic effect compared with oxygen and the bubble increment effect of reacting with carbon to produce twice the gas—the carbon dioxide smelting process was targeted according to the different tasks in different ...

Overcoming Printing and Interfacial Challenges in Liquid Metal Direct Writing for Integrated Stretchable Electronics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Liquid metal direct writing is advanced from a technological and fundamental point. Utilizing a kinematic bed, printing on large surfaces with irregularities is enabled. Furthermore, a pressure‐driven flow during printing is discovered that affects the thickness of traces.

Polymeric foams from cross-linkable poly-N-ary lenebenzimidazoles [PDF]

open access: yes, 1978
Foamed cross-linked poly-N-arylenebinzimidazoles are prepared by mixing an organic tetraamine and an ortho substituted aromatic dicarboxylic acid anhydride in the presence of a blowing agent, and then heating the prepolymer to a temperature sufficient to

A Numerical Study of Anti-Vortex Film Cooling Designs at High Blowing Ratio [PDF]

open access: yesVolume 4: Heat Transfer, Parts A and B, 2008
A concept for mitigating the adverse effects of jet vorticity and lift-off at high blowing ratios for turbine film cooling flows has been developed and studied at NASA Glenn Research Center. This “anti-vortex” film cooling concept proposes the addition of two branched holes from each primary hole in order to produce a vorticity counter to the ...

3D Printed PEDOT:PSS‐Based Lattice Pressure Sensors With Tunable Electromechanical Response

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
poly(3,4‐ethylenedioxythiophene): polystyrene sulfonate (PEDOT:PSS)‐based architected lattices are fabricated via single‐step Digital Light Processing (DLP) printing for tunable pressure sensing. Structural design variations allow precise control of sensitivity and range, while integrated conductivity eliminates post‐processing.

Reduction of tilt rotor download using circulation control [PDF]

open access: yes
The effect of boundary layer control blowing on the download of a wing in the wake of a hovering rotor was measured in a small scale experiment. The objective was to evaluate the potential of boundary layer control blowing for reducing tilt rotor ...
