Fish Scales: A Multifunctional Biomaterial from Nature

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
Fish scales demonstrate nature's solution to impact protection through overlapping multilayered architecture. This biological design combines mineralized surfaces with collagen networks to achieve both flexibility and fracture resistance. The structural principles inspire advanced protective materials and biomedical implants, where damage tolerance ...

Molecular, rheological, and crystalline properties of low-density polyethylene in blown film extrusion

open access: yes, 2007
The molecular weight and its distribution, degree of long chain branching and cooling rate strongly influence crystallinity during processing, which in turn determines the processability and the ultimate properties of the blown film. Generally a decrease

Blade Count and Rotational Speed Sensitivity of Vertical‐Axis Turbines Under Guided Vehicle‐Generated Transient Wakes

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
Passing vehicles generate short‐duration wakes that can be redirected toward a vertical‐axis turbine. The interaction between wake structure, blade count, and rotational speed governs transient torque production. Low‐solidity configurations combined with tuned rotational speed enhance energy extraction under vehicle‐induced gusts.
