Interface analysis of three-layer co-extrusion blown film [PDF]

open access: yesAIP Conference Proceedings, 2019
The three-layer co-extrusion blown film could combine a variety of different characteristics in the extrusion process and significantly decreased cost, therefore this technology is being applied more and more broadly. The flow channel geometry of three-layer co-extrusion blown film die was built and then meshed by ICEM CFD with all-hexahedral elements ...

Physico-mechanical and structural characterization of polyethylene films and thermoplastic pinto bean starch [PDF]

open access: yesPolímeros
Starch is a biopolymer that is abundant in nature, low-cost, biodegradable, and can be transformed into a thermoplastic material. This work evaluates the films’ physicochemical, thermal, and mechanical properties based on low-density polyethylene (LDPE ...

Transport, mechanical and global migration data of multilayer copolyamide nanocomposite films with different layouts

open access: yesData in Brief, 2017
Transport, mechanical and global migration data concern multilayer food packaging films with different layouts, all incorporating a layered silicate/polyamide nanocomposite as oxygen barrier layer, and a low-density polyethylene (LDPE) as moisture ...

Microsphere‐Templated Conductive Syntactic Foams for Recyclable and Additively Manufactured Soft Electronics

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This work introduces a microsphere‐templated strategy to fabricate reprocessable PEDOT:PSS syntactic foams with tunable porosity, stable conductivity, and 3D printability. In situ PEDOT:PSS coatings create a conductive network that maintains electrical performance at high void fractions.

Tough, Ductile, and Strong Hard‐Soft Cementitious Composite Enabled by Multi‐Material Additive Manufacturing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Drawing inspiration from the layered hard‐soft architecture found in sea sponges, this work establishes a new framework for architected cementitious composites (ACC) through multi‐material additive manufacturing (MMAM) process. The integration of mortar and elastomer phases into layered architectures enables synergistic toughening mechanisms, including

High Center‐of‐Mass, Multi‐Legged Soft Robots Powered by Geometrically Encoded Liquid Crystal Elastomer Arc Appendages

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Inspired by the octopus and the golden wheel spider, soft robots with liquid crystal elastomer arc fibers as appendages are fabricated to transcend surface constraints through an elevated center of mass and minimal contact footprints. By leveraging curvature‐encoded deformation‐recovery cycles, these robots exhibit contractile, torsional, and flexural ...

Photonic Crystals of Oblate Spheroids by Blown Film Extrusion of Prefabricated Colloidal Crystals

open access: yes, 2016
Three-dimensional photonic crystals (or photonic band gap materials) have been fabricated with oblate spheroids as the photonic building block. The nonspherical shape was realized by the blown film extrusion process of a prefabricated colloidal photonic ...
