DETERIORATIVE CHANGES DURING ICE STORAGE OF IRRADIATED BLUE JACK MACKEREL (TRACHURUS PICTURATUS)
Changes in the content of histamine (Him), tyramine (Tyr), agmatine (Agm), spermidine (Spd), putrescine (Put), cadaverine (Cad) and volatile basic nitrogen (VBN) were examined during the ice storage of blue jack mackerel irradiated at diferent levels (0, I, 2 and 3 kGy).

The ICES Planning Group on Commercial Catch, Discards and Biological Sampling (PGCCDBS) identified the need of the Horse Mackerel, Mediterranean Horse Mackerel and Blue Jack Mackerel (Trachurus trachurus, T. mediterreaneus and T. picturatus) otolith exchange to take place in 2015. It was the forth exchange.

Highly mobile pelagic species co‐occur with fine‐scale ocean fronts
Coastal areas are an important source of food and a valuable tourism asset for communities, but also highly dynamic and heterogeneous environments. Understanding how marine species respond to the variability of their habitat is essential to sustainably ...

Age and growth of the blue jack mackerel, Trachurus picturatus Bowdich, 1825 (Pisces: Teleostei) off Madeira archipelago [PDF]
Between 1984 and 1986, 630 pairs of sagitta otoliths were collected to determine the age and growth of the blue jack mackerel, Trachurus picturatus from Madeiran waters. The oldest specimen in this study was nine years old and the largest was 46 cm of total length (TL).

Use of Citizen Science to Determine Prey Partitioning Between Two Coastal Raptors. [PDF]
In Australia, Eastern Osprey (Pandion haliaetus cristatus) and White‐bellied Sea‐Eagle (Haliaeetus leucogaster) occupy the same ecological niche and are suspected of partitioning prey resources. This study investigated this through evaluating the breadth, overlap and partitioning of diets recorded from social media posts.

Report of the 4th Workshop on Age Reading of horse mackerel, Mediterranean horse mackerel and blue jack mackerel (Trachurus trachurus, T. mediterraneus and T. picturatus) (WKARHOM) [PDF]
Based on the previous work from WKARHOM3 (ICES, 2018), the Working Group on Biological Parameters (ICES, 2020) identified the need for a new otolith exchange followed by an age read-ing Workshop.

Combining scientific information with fishers’ perceptions may be a robust approach for directing decision-makers working with marine ecosystems. This is particularly the case when baseline data on a vulnerable stock are poor, as the integration of ...
