Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Cell density–dependent nuclear‐cytoplasmic shuttling of SETDB1 integrates with Hippo signaling to regulate YAP1‐mediated transcription

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
At low cell density, SETDB1 and YAP1 accumulate in the nucleus. As cell density increases, the Hippo pathway is gradually activated, and SETDB1 is associated with increased YAP1 phosphorylation. At high cell density, phosphorylated YAP1 is sequestered in the cytoplasm, while SETDB1 becomes polyubiquitinated and degraded by the ubiquitin–proteasome ...

Continuously wavelength-tunable high harmonic generation via soliton dynamics

open access: yes, 2017
We report generation of high harmonics in a gas-jet pumped by pulses self-compressed in a He-filled hollow-core photonic crystal fiber through the soliton effect. The gas-jet is placed directly at the fiber output.

Characterizing the salivary RNA landscape to identify potential diagnostic, prognostic, and follow‐up biomarkers for breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study explores salivary RNA for breast cancer (BC) diagnosis, prognosis, and follow‐up. High‐throughput RNA sequencing identified distinct salivary RNA signatures, including novel transcripts, that differentiate BC from healthy controls, characterize histological and molecular subtypes, and indicate lymph node involvement.

The spin resonance and high frequency optical properties of the cuprates

open access: yes, 2004
We argue that recently observed superconductivity-induced blue shift of the plasma frequency $\delta \omega_{pl}$ in $Bi_2Sr_2CaCu_2O_{8+\delta}$ is related to the change in the integrated dynamical structure factor associated with the development of the

Bridging the gap: Multi‐stakeholder perspectives of molecular diagnostics in oncology

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Although molecular diagnostics is transforming cancer care, implementing novel technologies remains challenging. This study identifies unmet needs and technology requirements through a two‐step stakeholder involvement. Liquid biopsies for monitoring applications and predictive biomarker testing emerge as key unmet needs. Technology requirements vary by

Crystal structure and optical performance in bulk γ-InSe single crystals

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2019
High purity γ-phase InSe single crystals have been synthesized and characterized by XRD, SEM, EDS and TEM. Detailed temperature dependent Raman and photoluminescence spectroscopy suggests a small blue-shift as temperature decreases.

Adenosine‐to‐inosine editing of miR‐200b‐3p is associated with the progression of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A‐to‐I editing of miRNAs, particularly miR‐200b‐3p, contributes to HGSOC progression by enhancing cancer cell proliferation, migration and 3D growth. The edited form is linked to poorer patient survival and the identification of novel molecular targets.

Abnormal Angle-Dependent Multi-Channel Filtering in Photonic Crystals Containing Hyperbolic Metamaterials

open access: yesNanomaterials
Tunneling modes in all-dielectric one-dimensional photonic crystals can be utilized for multi-channel filtering. However, these tunneling modes generally blue shift upon increasing the incident angle. When hyperbolic metamaterials are introduced into one-
