The anti‐CRISPR protein AcrIE8.1 inhibits the type I‐E CRISPR‐Cas system by directly binding to the Cascade subunit Cas11

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we present the structure of AcrIE8.1, a previously uncharacterized anti‐CRISPR protein that inhibits the type I‐E CRISPR‐Cas system. Through a combination of structural and biochemical analyses, we demonstrate that AcrIE8.1 directly binds to the Cas11 subunit of the Cascade complex to inhibit the CRISPR‐Cas system.

Effect of BaO Content on the Photoluminescence Properties of Mn2+ and Eu2+-Codoped Sr3−xBaxMgSi2O8 Phosphors

open access: yesInorganics
In this study, Mn2+ and Eu2+-codoped Sr3−xBaxMgSi2O8 (x = 0–1.5) phosphors were synthesized at 1400 °C under a reducing atmosphere composed of 5% H2 and 95% N2 to produce materials with blue light emission.

Dynamical T-matrix theory for high-density excitons in coupled quantum wells [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Excitons in coupled quantum wells open the possibility to reach high densities close to equilibrium. In a recent experiment employing a lateral trap potential, a blue shift and a broadening of the exciton emission line has been seen (Snoke, SSC 134). The

Structural insights into lacto‐N‐biose I recognition by a family 32 carbohydrate‐binding module from Bifidobacterium bifidum

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Bifidobacterium bifidum establishes symbiosis with infants by metabolizing lacto‐N‐biose I (LNB) from human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs). The extracellular multidomain enzyme LnbB drives this process, releasing LNB via its catalytic glycoside hydrolase family 20 (GH20) lacto‐N‐biosidase domain.

Exciton correlations in coupled quantum wells and their luminescence blue shift

open access: yes, 2009
In this paper we present a study of an exciton system where electrons and holes are confined in double quantum well structures. The dominating interaction between excitons in such systems is a dipole - dipole repulsion.

The quiet Sun average Doppler shift of coronal lines up to 2 MK [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The average Doppler shift shown by spectral lines formed from the chromosphere to the corona reveals important information on the mass and energy balance of the solar atmosphere, providing an important observational constraint to any models of the solar ...

The role and implications of mammalian cellular circadian entrainment

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
At their most fundamental level, mammalian circadian rhythms occur inside every individual cell. To tell the correct time, cells must align (or ‘entrain’) their circadian rhythm to the external environment. In this review, we highlight how cells entrain to the major circadian cues of light, feeding and temperature, and the implications this has for our

A Density Functional Theory Study of Raman Modes of Hydrogenated Cadmium Sulphide Nanoparticles

open access: yesNanomaterials and Nanotechnology, 2012
Raman scattering investigations based on density functional theory (DFT) calculations were performed to explore the vibrational modes of wurtzite structured CdS nanoparticles (NPs).

Blue shift DNA mutagenesis test II

open access: yes, 2021
The blue shifted plasmid samples from yesterday's test was taken out of the red light exposure chamber and transformed with NEB turbo E.coli strain. Hopefully the full 24 hour exposure was enough to induce purine mutation in the naked DNA, we'll find out soon.

Laser-Induced Above-Bandgap Transparency in GaAs

open access: yes, 2004
We report the observation of large ($\sim 40%$) laser-induced above-bandgap transparency in GaAs at room temperature. The induced transparency is present only during the pulse width of the driving midinfrard laser pulses and its spectral shape is ...
