We theoretically study the generation of attosecond XUV pulses via high-order frequency mixing (HFM) of two intense generating fields, and compare this process with the more common high-order harmonic generation (HHG) process.

Anomalous light shift through quantum jumps in quasi-resonant Rayleigh scattering
An anomalous light shift in the precession of a ground-state Zeeman coherence is observed: the Larmor frequency increases with the strength of a drive that is blue (red) detuned from a transition out of the lower (upper) energy level.

Peptide‐based ligand antagonists block a Vibrio cholerae adhesin
The structure of a peptide‐binding domain of the Vibrio cholerae adhesin FrhA was solved by X‐ray crystallography, revealing how the inhibitory peptide AGYTD binds tightly at its Ca2+‐coordinated pocket. Structure‐guided design incorporating D‐amino acids enhanced binding affinity, providing a foundation for developing anti‐adhesion therapeutics ...

The Variation of Optical Band Gap for ZnO:In Films Prepared by Sol-Gel Technique
ZnO:In films with different concentrations (0–5 at.%) are successfully synthesized on quartz substrates using sol-gel technique. The structure, morphology, and optical properties of ZnO:In films are investigated by X-ray diffraction, atomic force ...

Gravity's universality: The physics underlying Tolman temperature gradients
We provide a simple and clear verification of the physical need for temperature gradients in equilibrium states when gravitational fields are present. Our argument will be built in a completely kinematic manner, in terms of the gravitational red-shift ...

Real‐time assay of ribonucleotide reductase activity with a fluorescent RNA aptamer
Ribonucleotide reductases (RNR) synthesize DNA building blocks de novo, making them crucial in DNA replication and drug targeting. FLARE introduces the first single‐tube real‐time coupled RNR assay, which enables isothermal tracking of RNR activity at nanomolar enzyme levels and allows the reconstruction of allosteric regulatory patterns and rapid ...

Blue shift DNA mutagenesis test
We're running a quick and dirty test of methylene blue based DNA mutagensis method (based off their photosensitive quality) today, something to occupy our mind while waiting for the new system 76 rig to arrive (for our upcoming mutant Halobacterium NRC-1 genome sequencing project). The test is a simple one involving methylene blue diluent and […]

A General Blue-Shift Phenomenon
In chromatic homotopy theory, there is a well-known conjecture called blue-shift phenomenon (BSP). In this paper, we propose a general blue-shift phenomenon (GBSP) which unifies BSP and a new variant of BSP introduced by Balmer-Sanders under one framework.

Dispersive wave blue-shift in supercontinuum generation
We numerically study dispersive wave emission during femtosecond-pumped supercontinuum generation in photonic crystal fibres. We show that dispersive waves are primarily generated over a short region of high temporal compression. Despite the apparent complexity of the pump pulse in this region, we show that the dynamics of dispersive wave generation ...
