IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.

Leucomethylene blue staining during vagotomy

open access: yesJournal of British Surgery, 1981
Abstract Sixty patients were evaluated 10 years after vagotomy for duodenal ulcer. In 31 the stain leucomethylene blue had been used peroperatively to visualize remaining nerve twigs on the distal oesophagus when the surgeon had deemed the vagotomy to be complete and in 29 cases the staining technique was not used.

Performance of thermally modified timber (TMT) in outdoor application – durability, abrasion and optical appearance [PDF]

open access: yesDrvna Industrija, 2009
Thermally modified timber (TMT) is increasingly offered in Europe as an alternative to preservative treated timber. TMT durability in field tests as well as its moisture sorption behaviour in façade application was determined so as to consider its ...

KDM7A and KDM1A inhibition suppresses tumour promoting pathways in prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Treatment resistance is a major challenge for patients with advanced prostate cancer. This study examined an alternative approach to target the major prostate cancer‐promoting pathway by targeting epigenetic factors, whose levels are higher in tumours.

Developmental programmes drive cellular plasticity, disease progression and therapy resistance in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that lung adenocarcinomas exploit developmental branching morphogenesis to acquire a therapy resistant basal‐like tumour cell state. This process was found to be regulated by combined TP53 loss‐of‐function and type‐I interferon signalling, identifying a novel axis for biomarker and therapeutic target discovery.

ANTAGONISME ANTARA KUMBANG AMBROSIA XYLEBORUS SP. DAN JAMUR BIRU YANG MENYERANG DOLOK TUSAM (PINUS MERKUSII)

open access: yesJurnal Penelitian Hasil Hutan (Journal of Forest Products Research), 2017
Freshly cut logs of tusam (Pinus  merkusii) are very susceptible to the infestation of the ambrosia beetle Xyleborus sp.  and blue stain fungi. An observation showed that both wood deteriorating organisms might infest a same log simultaneously, but they ...

Properties of blue-stained wood

open access: yesDrvna Industrija, 2008
Discoloration of wood is frequently caused by blue-stain fungi. Among them Aureobasidium pullulans and Sclerophoma pithyophila are reported as the most important staining organism. In previous researches, it was generally considered that blue-stain fungi

Loss of IGF‐1R impairs DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin leading to defective end‐joining

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
IGF‐1R promotes radioresistance by facilitating DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin, enabling non‐homologous end‐joining (NHEJ) repair of double‐strand breaks. Inhibition or loss of IGF‐1R disrupts this recruitment to damage sites, driving compensatory reliance on microhomology‐mediated end‐joining (MMEJ) repair.

Efficacy of in-house fluorescent stain for fungus

open access: yesIndian Journal of Pathology and Microbiology, 2017
Context: Mycotic infections are gaining importance in the present day medicine, and definite demonstration of fungus is essential for diagnosis. Small numbers of organisms in the smear can be identified by fluorescence microscopy.
