Modeling the radial distribution of blue stragglers in M3

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 1994
Recent surveys of the blue straggler (BS) population in the galactic globular cluster M3 (NGC 5272) give the first complete characterization of the number density of BSs as a function of radius over an entire globular cluster. The BSs in M3 are overabundant at large radii, and significantly underabundant at intermediate radii.

Wind Roche-lobe Overflow in Low-mass Binaries: Exploring the Origin of Rapidly Rotating Blue Lurkers

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Wind Roche-lobe overflow (WRLOF) is a mass-transfer mechanism proposed by Mohamed and Podsiadlowski for stellar binaries wherein the wind acceleration zone of the donor star exceeds its Roche-lobe radius, allowing stellar wind material to be transferred ...

Monolithically Integrated Fourier Injected REsonator (FIRE) for Passive Coherent Laser Combination

open access: yesAdvanced Photonics Research, EarlyView.
Semiconductor diode‐based Fourier Injected REsonator (FIRE). The concept of free space FIRE, formerly known as the self‐Fourier cavity, is demonstrated for the first time on a chip‐scale device. A very high laser array coherence (97.7% fringe visibility), corresponding to single out‐of‐phase supermode operation, is reported.

AGES OF YOUNG STAR CLUSTERS, MASSIVE BLUE STRAGGLERS, AND THE UPPER MASS LIMIT OF STARS: ANALYZING AGE-DEPENDENT STELLAR MASS FUNCTIONS [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Massive stars rapidly change their masses through strong stellar winds and mass transfer in binary systems. The latter aspect is important for populations of massive stars as more than 70% of all O stars are expected to interact with a binary companion ...

Lithium and Vanadium Intercalation into Bilayer V2Se2O: Ferrimagnetic–Ferroelastic Multiferroics and Anomalous and Spin Transport

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Li‐ and V‐intercalated V2Se2O bilayers possess intralayer ferrimagnetic and interlayer ferromagnetic orders, alongside ferroelasticity, in‐plane uniaxial magnetic anisotropy, half‐metal/enhanced spin splitting, the anomalous Hall effect, giant magnetoresistance, tunneling magnetoresistance, near‐perfect spin filtering effect, spin Seebeck effect, and ...

Comprehensive Analysis of NGC 6134: Structure, Dynamics, and Blue Straggler Star Candidates

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Supplement Series
Open clusters play a critical role in the study of both stellar and Galactic evolution. We present a comprehensive analysis of the open cluster NGC 6134 using Gaia DR3 astrometric and photometric data, supplemented with multiwavelength observations from ...

DEEP MULTI-TELESCOPE PHOTOMETRY OF NGC 5466. I. BLUE STRAGGLERS AND BINARY SYSTEMS [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
We present a detailed investigation of the radial distribution of blue straggler star (BSS) and binary populations in the Galactic globular cluster NGC 5466, over the entire extension of the system.

Efficient Manipulation of Magnetic Domain Wall by Dual Spin‐Orbit Torque in Synthetic Antiferromagnets

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Dual spin‐orbit torque coming from two Pt layers effectively drives the magnetic domain wall motion (DWM) in a synthetic antiferromagnet consisting of two Co ferromagnetic layers coupled with interlayer exchange coupling (IEC). In addition, the antisymmetric version of IEC leads to low current density for nucleating DW and fast velocity of DWM ...

Magnetic and Crystal Symmetry Control on Spin Hall Conductivity in Altermagnets

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Crystal structures and schematic illustrations of the spin Hall effect (SHE) in altermagnets. High‐symmetry RuO2 exhibits conventional SHE, while tilted RuO2 shows trivial unconventional SHE (USHE) caused by structural tilting. CrSb and MnTe, with reduced magnetic symmetry, display intrinsic USHE arising from symmetry‐driven spin–momentum locking ...
