An assessment of the urban water footprint and blue water scarcity: A case study for Van (Turkey)

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Biology, 2021
Today, most of the world’s population faces water scarcity, while global warming, urbanization, industrialization and population increases continue to increase the severity of the pressure on water resources.

NMR analysis of Nile Blue (C. I. Basic Blue 12) and Thionine (C. I. 52000) in solution [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The dyes Nile Blue (C. I. Basic Blue 12, NB) and Thionine (C. I. 52000, TH) were examined in both ionic and neutral forms in different solvents using NMR and UV-visible Spectroscopy to firmly establish the structures of the molecules and to assess the ...

Planting Period Effects on Wheat Productivity and Water Footprints: Insights through Adaptive Trials and APSIM Simulations

open access: yesAgronomy, 2022
Scarcity of fresh water and climate change are the two main threats for wheat production in South Asia. Tweaking wheat planting period could be an effective cost-smart strategy to mitigate these stresses.

The blue water footprint of electricity from hydropower [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Hydropower accounts for about 16% of the world's electricity supply. It has been debated whether hydroelectric generation is merely an in-stream water user or whether it also consumes water.

Estimating surface water and vadose water resources for an ungauged inland catchment in Vietnam

open access: yesJournal of Water and Climate Change, 2021
This study aimed to assess water resources for the La Vi catchment, an ungauged inland basin in Vietnam. An Internet of Things-based automatic meteorological station has been installed in the catchment to record hourly weather data from 2016.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.
