Turbulence Modification by Superhydrophobic Bluff Body

open access: yes, 2023
This paper investigates the impact of superhydrophobicity on turbulent flow characteristics, drag force, and lift forcethrough numerical simulations. A superhydrophobicity boundary condition is implemented on the surface of a sphere, altering the fluid-solid interaction, and introducing air pockets within the superhydrophobic texture.

Mixing and combustion performance of the mixing-enhanced flame stabilizer with close-coupled gaseous fuel injection

open access: yesEnergy Reports, 2023
Mixing of fuel and air is important for improving combustion performance and reducing pollution emissions. To improve the mixing performance of gaseous methane and air, the typical flame stabilizer was modified. A numerical study was conducted to compare

Bluff body uses deep-reinforcement-learning trained active flow control to achieve hydrodynamic stealth [PDF]

open access: yesThe Physics of Fluids, 2020
We propose a novel active-flow-control (AFC) strategy for bluff bodies to hide their hydrodynamic traces from predators. A group of windward-suction-leeward-blowing (WSLB) actuators are adopted to control the wake of a circular cylinder submerged in a ...

Experimental Research of Symmetrical Airfoil Piezoelectric Energy Harvester Excited by Vortex-Induced Flutter Coupling

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2022
In order to solve the problem of self-energy supply of vehicle-mounted micro-sensors, bridge detection and some other low-power electronic devices in their working state, a vortex-induced flutter composite nonlinear piezoelectric energy harvester (VFPEH)

Numerical investigation of bluff body shapes and position to enhance heat transfer in double forward-facing step flow

open access: yesResults in Engineering
A two-dimensional, incompressible, steady-state turbulent flow in a double forward-facing step involving forced convection is considered for numerical investigation. A passive method was attempted to enhance heat transfer with the help of a pair of bluff

Gleaning the Rocky Shore? 2500 Years of Coastal Resource Use at Red Bluff 1, GunaiKurnai Country, SE Australia

open access: yesArchaeology in Oceania, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Shell middens in Gippsland along the eastern half of Victoria's coastline have usually been characterised as small, short‐duration camp sites with relatively low shell densities and low taxonomic diversity. Here we present new excavation results from a dense, high‐diversity site at Red Bluff near the eastern end of GunaiKurnai Country, a ...
