Profiling Protein Citrullination in Extracellular Vesicles by Single‐Molecule Detection Using Direct Stochastic Optical Reconstruction Microscopy

open access: yesJournal of Biophotonics, EarlyView.
This study identifies post‐translationally citrullinated/deiminated protein cargoes co‐localised to EV subtypes, using super resolution microscopy and dSTORM imaging. The findings expand current understanding of post‐translational modifications in EV‐mediated cellular communication.

Dextran sodium sulfate confounds causal role of periodontitis in inflammatory bowel disease

open access: yesJournal of Periodontology, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Emerging evidence supports a bidirectional link between periodontitis and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). To investigate this relationship, experimental models commonly use dextran sodium sulfate (DSS) to induce colitis. However, DSS is presumed to selectively affect the colon, and its potential off‐target effects on the oral ...

Mineral‐targeted alkaline phosphatase improves bone graft‐mediated alveolar bone defect healing in mice

open access: yesJournal of Periodontology, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Alveolar bone loss challenges tooth retention and implant placement. Freeze‐dried bone allograft (FDBA) is widely used for alveolar ridge preservation but has limitations in resorption rate and healing time. In this proof‐of‐concept study, we tested whether pro‐mineralization enzyme, tissue‐nonspecific alkaline phosphatase (TNAP ...

Bone mineral density variations in male aged 10 to 76 years old

open access: yesPayesh, 2004
Objective(s): Osteoporosis and osteoporosis related fractures are usually considered conditions of post menopausal or elderly women, but these problems also occur in men. In fact, nearly 30 percent of hip fractures occur in men.

Optimizing protein delivery rate from silk fibroin hydrogel using silk fibroin-mimetic peptides conjugation

open access: yesScientific Reports
Controlled release of proteins, such as growth factors, from biocompatible silk fibroin (SF) hydrogel is valuable for its use in tissue engineering, drug delivery, and other biological systems. To achieve this, we introduced silk fibroin-mimetic peptides
