String and Parton Percolation

open access: yes, 2005
A brief review to string and parton percolation is presented. After a short introduction, the main consequences of percolation of color sources on the following observables in A-A collisions: $J/\psi$ suppression, saturation of the multiplicity ...

Therapeutic strategies for MMAE‐resistant bladder cancer through DPP4 inhibition

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We established monomethyl auristatin E (MMAE)‐resistant bladder cancer (BC) cell lines by exposure to progressively increasing concentrations of MMAE in vitro. RNA sequencing showed DPP4 expression was increased in MMAE‐resistant BC cells. Both si‐DPP4 and the DPP4 inhibitor sitagliptin suppressed the viability of MMAE‐resistant BC cells.

Astaxanthin is not indispensable for crustaceans: carotenoid differences and metabolic mechanisms of crayfish (Procambarus clarkii) with different carapace colors

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science
IntroductionProcambarus clarkii is an important economic aquatic species, and body color is an important economic trait. However, studies on the regulation of body color in crayfish remains limited.MethodsWe conducted an integrated transcriptomic and ...

Dynamical study of the light scalar mesons below 1 GeV in a flux-tube model

open access: yes, 2012
The light scalar mesons below 1 GeV as tetraquark states are studied in the framework of the flux-tube model, the multi-body confinement instead of the additive two-body confinement is used.

Infrared laser sampling of low volumes combined with shotgun lipidomics reveals lipid markers in palatine tonsil carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.

Effective band-structure in the insulating phase versus strong dynamical correlations in metallic VO2

open access: yes, 2008
Using a general analytical continuation scheme for cluster dynamical mean field calculations, we analyze real-frequency self-energies, momentum-resolved spectral functions, and one-particle excitations of the metallic and insulating phases of VO2.

Basroparib inhibits YAP‐driven cancers by stabilizing angiomotin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Basroparib, a selective tankyrase inhibitor, suppresses Wnt signaling and attenuates YAP‐driven oncogenic programs by stabilizing angiomotin. It promotes AMOT–YAP complex formation, enforces cytoplasmic YAP sequestration, inhibits YAP/TEAD transcription, and sensitizes YAP‐active cancers, including KRAS‐mutant colorectal cancer, to MEK inhibition.

Frozen rigging model of the energy dominated universe

open access: yes, 2004
Composite rigging systems, involving membranes that meet on strings that meet on monopoles, arise naturally by the Kibble mechanism as topological defects in field theories involving spontaneous symmetry breaking.

Colorectal cancer‐derived FGF19 is a metabolically active serum biomarker that exerts enteroendocrine effects on mouse liver

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Meta‐transcriptome analysis identified FGF19 as a peptide enteroendocrine hormone associated with colorectal cancer prognosis. In vivo xenograft models showed release of FGF19 into the blood at levels that correlated with tumor volumes. Tumoral‐FGF19 altered murine liver metabolism through FGFR4, thereby reducing bile acid synthesis and increasing ...
