ASSESSMENT OF DIFFERENT MODES OF TRANSMISSION OF HIV IN PATIENTS WITH HIV/AIDS

open access: yesGomal Journal of Medical Sciences, 2015
Background: HIV infection can be transmitted via a variety of ways. The objectives of this study were to determine the frequency distribution of gender, age grouping, marital status, and mode of transmission in HIV/AIDS patients.

Lp-strong solution to fluid-rigid body interaction system with Navier slip boundary condition [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
We study a fluid-structure interaction problem describing movement of a rigid body inside a bounded domain filled by a viscous fluid. The fluid is modelled by the generalized incompressible Naiver-Stokes equations which include cases of Newtonian and non-Newtonian fluids.

Methylated DNA/RNA in Body Fluids as Biomarkers for Lung Cancer

open access: yesBiological Procedures Online, 2017
DNA/RNA methylation plays an important role in lung cancer initiation and progression. Liquid biopsy makes use of cells, nucleotides and proteins released from tumor cells into body fluids to help with cancer diagnosis and prognosis.

Solubility and Body Fluids [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Solubility phenomena (i.e. dissolution and precipitation reactions) are the physicochemical basis of numerous biological processes. These include, for instance: • gas solubilities in respiratory and photosynthetic processes; the solubility of volatile anaesthetics; • the crystallisation, both in biologically controlled and pathological processes, of ...

The Ubiquitous Existence of MicroRNA in Body Fluids.

open access: yesClinical Chemistry, 2017
Featured Article: Weber J, Baxter D, Zhang S, Huang KH, Lee MJ, Galas DJ, Wang K. The microRNA spectrum in 12 body fluids. Clin Chem 2010;56:1733–41.2 Cell-free circulating microRNA (miRNA) has been at the center stage of biomarker discovery in recent ...

A target-fixed immersed-boundary formulation for rigid bodies interacting with fluid flow [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
We present an immersed boundary projection method formulated in a body-fixed frame of reference for flow-structure interaction (FSI) problems involving rigid bodies with complex geometries. The body-fixed formulation is aimed at maximizing the accuracy of surface stresses on the FSI body (the target) on during spatial and temporal discretization.

Life at high Deborah number

open access: yes, 2009
In many biological systems, microorganisms swim through complex polymeric fluids, and usually deform the medium at a rate faster than the inverse fluid relaxation time.

The problem of collecting different body fluids from drivers in the surveys [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Objectives: It is not easy to obtain a blood sample from drivers at the roadside for use in epidemiological studies. Therefore, use of saliva samples has become popular.

Handling and storage of human body fluids for analysis of extracellular vesicles

open access: yesJournal of Extracellular Vesicles, 2015
Because procedures of handling and storage of body fluids affect numbers and composition of extracellular vesicles (EVs), standardization is important to ensure reliable and comparable measurements of EVs in a clinical environment.

Body fluids and salt metabolism - Part I

open access: yesItalian Journal of Pediatrics, 2009
There is a high frequency of diarrhea and vomiting in childhood. As a consequence the focus of the present review is to recognize the different body fluid compartments, to clinically assess the degree of dehydration, to know how the equilibrium between ...
