Chemical Barrier Proteins in Human Body Fluids
Chemical barriers are composed of those sites of the human body where potential pathogens can contact the host cells. A chemical barrier is made up by different proteins that are part of the antimicrobial and immunomodulatory protein/peptide (AMP) family.

Lattice Boltzmann simulation of deformable fluid-filled bodies: progress and perspectives [PDF]
With the rapid development of studies involving droplet microfluidics, drug delivery, cell detection, and microparticle synthesis, among others, many scientists have invested significant efforts to model the flow of these fluid-filled bodies. Motivated by the intricate coupling between hydrodynamics and the interactions of fluid-filled bodies, several ...

Trading particle shape with fluid symmetry: on the mobility matrix in 3D chiral fluids [PDF]
Chiral fluids - such as fluids under rotation or a magnetic field as well as synthetic and biological active fluids - flow in a different way than ordinary ones. Due to symmetries broken at the microscopic level, chiral fluids may have asymmetric stress and viscosity tensors, for example giving rise to a hydrostatic torque or non-dissipative (odd) and ...

On the motion of a nearly incompressible viscous fluid containing a small rigid body [PDF]
We consider the motion of a compressible viscous fluid containing a moving rigid body confined to a planar domain $\Omega \subset R^2$. The main result states that the influence of the body on the fluid is negligible if (i) the diameter of the body is small and (ii) the fluid is nearly incompressible (the low Mach number regime).

Classification of Molecular Biomarkers
A “biomarker” is any measurable characteristic that indicates the presence or absence of disease or the biological response to a stimulus, typically an exposure or intervention.
