A Tuning-free Body-Force Vortex Generator Model

44th AIAA Aerospace Sciences Meeting and Exhibit, 2006
The use of flow control in modern aero-design is currently an area of great interest. Vortex generators (VGs) are efficient passive flow control devices attracting interest due to their reliability and cost-effectiveness. In order to find the best possible vortex generator configuration for a specific application, computational fluid dynamics (CFD ...

Equivalent body-force model for magnetostrictive transduction in EMATs

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2015
Electromagnetic Acoustic Transducers (EMATs) are an attractive alternative to standard piezoelectric probes in those applications where couplant fluid cannot be used, i.e. high speed or high temperature testing, or when specific wave-modes have to be excited.

Body Force Modeling of the Aerodynamics of the Fan of a Turbofan at Windmill

Volume 2C: Turbomachinery, 2016
The windmilling regime of a turbofan corresponds to a freewheeling mode of the fan rotor, driven by the ram pressure at the inlet. Early in the design process, determination of the windmilling rotational speed of the fan can be critical in the design of the supporting structure of the engine. Therefore, prediction of key parameters in windmilling is an

The Method of Intraabdominal Force Determination in Human's Body Model

1997
This work deals with the simple method for estimating of abdominal resultant force in man depending on his age and statistical distribution. Many biomehanical analyses usually start with the formation of the biomechanical model of the human body. In this paragraph the method for the human figure drawing is combined with the simple method for estimating

Analytical Body Forces in Actuator Disk Models of Propellers

AIAA Journal
A generalized analytical model for representing body forces in numerical actuator disk models of propellers is proposed and compared to existing designs using momentum theory. The model is an extension of a previously developed load model for wind turbines, which is extended and applied to propellers.

Body force modeling of fan-airframe interactions
