Serum osmolarity and haematocrit do not modify the association between the impedance index (Ht2/Z) and total body water in the very old: The Newcastle 85+ Study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Bioelectrical impedance is a non-invasive technique for the assessment of body composition; however, information on its accuracy in the very old (80+ years) is limited.

A slip model for micro/nano gas flows induced by body forces

open access: yes, 2010
A slip model for gas flows in micro/nano-channels induced by external body forces is derived based on Maxwell's collision theory between gas molecules and the wall.

Height, body mass index, and socioeconomic status: mendelian randomisation study in UK Biobank

open access: yesBritish medical journal, 2016
Objective To determine whether height and body mass index (BMI) have a causal role in five measures of socioeconomic status. Design Mendelian randomisation study to test for causal effects of differences in stature and BMI on five measures of ...

Show me your face and I will tell you your height, weight and body mass index

open access: yesInternational Conference on Pattern Recognition, 2018
Body height, weight, as well as the associated and composite body mass index (BMI) are human attributes of pertinence due to their use in a number of applications including surveillance, re-identification, image retrieval systems, as well as healthcare ...

Multifunctional Design of Triply Periodic Minimal Surface Structures for Temporary Pediatric Fixation Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A metallic implant's higher stiffness compared to the surrounding bone leads to stress shielding problems, causing bone density reduction and bone growth interference in pediatric patients. 3D‐printed triply periodic minimal surface structures present a promising engineering solution.

Hubungan Tinggi Badan Dengan Ukuran Lebar Panggul Pada Mahasiswi Angkatan 2010 Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Sam Ratulangi [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
: Body weight is one of growth indicators. The result of previous research show that women with less than 145 centimeter body weight are potentially has a pelvic stricture.

Impacts of Radial Mixing on the Galactic Thick and Thin Disks

open access: yes, 2017
Using N-body simulations of the Galactic disks, we qualitatively study how the metallicity distributions of the thick and thin disk stars are modified by radial mixing induced by the bar and spiral arms.

Albumin concentrations are primarily determined by the body cell mass and the systemic inflammatory response in cancer patients with weight loss [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
The association between hypoalbuminemia and poor prognosis in patients with cancer is well recognized. However, the factors that contribute to the fall in albumin concentrations are not well understood.

Development of Ternary Magnesium Alloys for Laser Powder Bed Fusion: Optimizing Oxide Layer Thickness

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Additive manufacturing of magnesium alloys by laser is difficult because the melting point of the oxide layer is much higher than the evaporation temperature of the metal underneath. Making the oxide layer thinner can solve this problem. Alloying magnesium with strontium makes the oxide layer thinner, especially at 0.5 wt%.
