Neural Correlates of Human Body Perception

Journal of Cognitive Neuroscience, 2010
Abstract The objective of this study was to investigate potential sex differences in the neural response to human bodies using fMRI carried out in healthy young adults. We presented human bodies in a block-design experiment to identify body-responsive regions of the brain, namely, extrastriate body area (EBA) and fusiform body area (FBA).

Body Perception upon Awakening

Perceptual and Motor Skills, 1976
12 male subjects were evaluated with a battery of body perception measures before sleep and just after awakening. Personality measures were also obtained. The results indicated a borderline, but not significant, trend at the time of awakening for the body boundary to be reduced in definiteness; and there were sensations that one's body is more dirty ...

An Introduction to Body and Multimodal Perception

2005
Abstract The purpose of this section is to examine how the perception of our own body relies on the integration of information from multiple sensory modalities and how such integration is affected by body perception itself. The interplay between multisensory integration and body perception can be readily illustrated with the following
