Changes in body mass during weight loss treatment – a two-year prospective study

open access: yesStudia Medyczne, 2017
Introduction : A reduction of 5% to 10% of body mass is related to a significantly lower risk of the occurrence of conditions whose underlying cause is obesity.

Hippo pathway at the crossroads of stemness and therapeutic resistance in breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dysregulation of the Hippo pathway drives nuclear accumulation of YAP/TAZ, activating stemness‐related transcriptional programs that sustain breast cancer stemness and fuel therapeutic resistance across subtypes, underscoring Hippo signaling as a targetable vulnerability. Figure created and edited with BioRender.com.

Body weight and egg weight dynamics in layers

open access: yesPoultry Science, 1998
The association between body weight-age and egg weight-age patterns was studied in a segregating population of laying hens belonging to the F3 generation of a Rhode Island Red x White Leghorn reciprocal cross. Body weight and egg weight were expressed as a function of time using the model developed by Weatherup and Foster. Each hen was characterized in

CD47 promotes mitogen‐activated protein kinase and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition molecular programs to drive prometastatic phenotypes in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Beyond its role in immune evasion, this study identified that CD47 drives tumor‐intrinsic signaling in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Transcriptomic profiling and functional studies revealed that CD47 regulates cell adhesion, migration, and metastasis through an ERK–EMT signaling axis.

Genetic variation at CHRNA5-CHRNA3-CHRNB4 interacts with smoking status to influence body mass index [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Cigarette smoking is associated with lower body mass index (BMI), and a commonly cited reason for unwillingness to quit smoking is a concern about weight gain.

Proteasome inhibitor, ixazomib prevents topoisomerase‐I degradation and reverses irinotecan resistance in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Ixazomib inhibits proteasome‐mediated degradation of topoisomerase I induced by irinotecan, thereby restoring drug sensitivity and promoting tumor cell death in colorectal cancer. Irinotecan, a topoisomerase I (topoI) inhibitor, is widely used for colorectal cancer, but resistance remains a major clinical challenge.

PREDICTION OF BODY WEIGHT OF PIGS FROM BODY MEASUREMENTS [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, 2004
An attempt was made to develop a formula to estimate the body weight (W) of Large White Yorkshire piglets aged between three to six months using body length (L) and chest girth (G) data.

Genetic markers of obesity risk: stronger associations with body composition in overweight compared to normal-weight children. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Genetic factors are important determinants of overweight. We examined whether there are differential effect sizes depending on children's body composition.
