Complex dynamics of a predator–prey model with opportunistic predator and weak Allee effect in prey

open access: yesJournal of Biological Dynamics, 2023
In this work, we first modify a Lotka–Volterra predator–prey system to incorporate an opportunistic predator and weak Allee effect in prey. The prey will be extinct if the combined effect of hunting and other food resources of predator is large ...

Improved Homoclinic Predictor for Bogdanov–Takens Bifurcation [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Bifurcation and Chaos, 2014
An improved homoclinic predictor at a generic codim 2 Bogdanov–Takens (BT) bifucation is derived. We use the classical "blow-up" technique to reduce the canonical smooth normal form near a generic BT bifurcation to a perturbed Hamiltonian system.

On Uniqueness of Limit Cycles in General Bogdanov–Takens Bifurcation [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Bifurcation and Chaos, 2018
In this paper, we present a complete study of the well-known Bogdanov–Takens bifurcation and give a rigorous proof for the uniqueness of limit cycles.

Bogdanov–Takens Bifurcation of Codimension 3 in the Gierer–Meinhardt Model

open access: yesInternational Journal of Bifurcation and Chaos, 2023
Bifurcation of the local Gierer–Meinhardt model is analyzed in this paper. It is found that the degenerate Bogdanov–Takens bifurcation of codimension 3 exists in the model, except for the saddle-node bifurcation and the Hopf bifurcation. That was not reported in the literature about this model.

Diversity of cells and signals in the cardiovascular system

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, Volume 601, Issue 13, Page 2547-2592, 1 July 2023., 2023
Abstract figure legend This white paper discusses the cell diversity, co‐ordination and interaction patterns that are critical for robust cardiovascular function. We identify the major cell types and signals involved in cardiovascular function and emphasize the complexity at the subcellular, cellular and system levels that motivate both challenges and ...

Spatiotemporal Tipping Induced by Turing Instability and Hopf Bifurcation in a Population Ecosystem Model with the Fear Factor

open access: yesComplexity, Volume 2023, Issue 1, 2023., 2023
Population ecosystems can display the tipping points at which extinctions of species happens. To predict the appearance of tipping points and to understand their evolution mechanism are of uttermost importance for ecological balance. Using techniques from bifurcation theory, we can predict the emergence of tipping points based on a spatiotemporal ...

Complex Behaviors of Epidemic Model with Nonlinear Rewiring Rate

open access: yesComplexity, 2020
An SIS propagation model with the nonlinear rewiring rate on an adaptive network is considered. It is found by bifurcation analysis that the model has the complex behaviors which include the transcritical bifurcation, saddle-node bifurcation, Hopf ...

Feeding habits of the Middle Triassic pseudosuchian Batrachotomus kupferzellensis from Germany and palaeoecological implications for archosaurs

open access: yesPalaeontology, Volume 65, Issue 3, May/June 2022., 2022
Abstract Bite traces on fossil bones are key to deciphering feeding ecology and trophic interactions of vertebrate past ecosystems. However, similarities between traces produced by different carnivorous taxa with similar dentitions, and misidentifications due to equifinality, hinder confident identifications of the bite makers.

Chaos in the Takens-Bogdanov bifurcation with O(2) symmetry [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The Takens–Bogdanov bifurcation is a codimension two bifurcation that provides a key to the presence of complex dynamics in many systems of physical interest. When the system is translation invariant in one spatial dimension with no left-right preference
