A triple gene mutant of BoHV-1 administered intranasally is significantly more efficacious than a BoHV-1 glycoprotein E-deleted virus against a virulent BoHV-1 challenge

Vaccine, 2014
Bovine herpesvirus 1 (BoHV-1) causes respiratory infections and abortions in cattle, and is an important component of bovine respiratory disease complex, which causes a considerable economic loss worldwide. Several efforts have been made to produce safer and more effective vaccines.

A derivative of bovine herpesvirus 1 (BoHV-1) UL3.5 lacking the last forty amino acids inhibits replication of BoHV-1

Archives of Virology, 2004
Bovine herpesvirus 1 (BoHV-1) UL3.5 is a tegument protein that interacts with BoHV-1 alpha-transinducing factor alphaBTIF). In this report, we show that a truncated UL3.5 lacking the last 40 amino acids (C40UL3.5) inhibited replication of BoHV-1. Stable expression of C40UL3.5 in MDBK cells inhibited replication of BoHV-1 300- to 500-fold in plaque ...

Cell entry of Bovine herpesvirus-1 through clathrin- and caveolin-mediated endocytosis requires activation of PI3K-Akt-NF-κB and Ras-p38 MAPK pathways as well as the interaction of BoHV-1 gD with cellular receptor nectin-1.

Veterinary Microbiology, 2023
Bovine herpesvirus-1 (BoHV-1) can infect all breeds of cattle and cause severe respiratory organs and genital tract diseases. However, the mechanism of BoHV-1 entering the cells remains unclear. In this study, we explored the mechanism of BoHV-1 entering

The role of sheep in the epidemiology of Bovine alphaherpesvirus 1 (BoHV-1)

Preventive Veterinary Medicine, 2020
Bovine alphaherpesvirus 1 (BoHV-1) as a cusative agent for some diseases in cattle infects sheep and goat; and it is believed that these animals may be reservoir host for this virus. Thus, BoHV-1 infection in sheep and goat should be considerd when there is a program for control and eradication of this virus in cattle.

Characterization of BoHV-1 gE envelope glycoprotein mimotopes obtained by phage display

Veterinary Microbiology, 2004
A phage-displayed peptide library was screened using four mAbs directed against bovine herpesvirus 1 (BoHV-1) gE glycoprotein to identify peptides mimicking this glycoprotein. The selected mimotopes allowed us to characterize the epitopes corresponding to the mAbs as continuous and proteinic and to consider using these peptides in further studies.

Maternal antibody transfer efficiency: The impact of M. bovis-BoHV-1 combined vaccine

Virology
Bovine respiratory disease (BRD) is a complex and one of the most costly diseases caused by multiple bacterial and viral infections. Cattle of almost all ages are susceptible to BRD, with young day-old newborn calves being the most at risk.

Development and evaluation of recombinant gD protein based ELISA for sero-surveillance of BoHV-1 in India.

Biologicals (Print), 2023
Bovine herpes virus-1 (BoHV-1) is responsible for production losses through decreased milk yields, abortions, infertility, and trade restrictions in the bovine population. The disease is endemic in many countries including India.

A plasmid encoding the extracellular domain of CD40 ligand and Montanide™ GEL01 as adjuvants enhance the immunogenicity and the protection induced by a DNA vaccine against BoHV-1.

Vaccine, 2021
DNA vaccines are capable of inducing humoral and cellular immunity, and are important to control bovine herpesvirus 1 (BoHV-1), an agent of the bovine respiratory disease complex.

Sec6 suppresses BoHV-1-triggered innate immunity through NDP52-mediated autophagic degradation of STING.

Veterinary Microbiology
Sec6 is a constituent subunit of the exocyst complex, which plays a critical role in exocytosis. However, its involvement in DNA virus infection induced-innate immune responses has remained unclear.

Rapid detection of BoHV-1 genomic DNA by loop-mediated isothermal amplification assay

Journal of Virological Methods, 2014
Bovine herpes virus-1 (BoHV-1) is a serious viral pathogen of domestic and wild cattle. Herein, we report development of a new molecular diagnostic assay for rapid and sensitive detection of BoHV-1 utilizing the loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) technique.
