Survey on antibody against bovine herpesvirus 1 (BoHV-1) in cattle in Korea [PDF]

open access: yesKorean Journal of Veterinary Service, 2014
Abstract This study was performed in Korea to get serological information for bovine herpesvirus 1 (BoHV-1), most commonly found in cattle. Antibodies against BoHV-1 were examined by targeting infectious bo-vine rhinotracheitis (IBR) in unvaccinated and vaccinated cattle, using viral neutralization (VN) test.

PBLD Orchestrates the STING‐Mediated Antiviral Immune Response and Autoimmune Diseases

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 4, 19 January 2026.
During viral infection, PBLD expression is downregulated, thereby subverting host antiviral defenses and promoting viral replication. This study identifies PBLD as a positive regulator of STING‐induced type I interferon activation and delineated the molecular network underlying PBLD‐mediated antiviral immunity and autoimmune pathogenesis, highlighting ...

Pantinin‐Derived Peptides against Veterinary Herpesviruses: Activity and Structural Characterization

open access: yesChemMedChem, Volume 20, Issue 19, October 6, 2025.
Pantinin‐1 and pantinin‐2, scorpion venom–derived peptides, show potent antiviral activity against caprine and bovine herpesviruses. Acting via virucidal action and inhibition of viral entry/fusion, they adopt α‐helical structures in membrane‐mimetic environments. These structure–activity insights highlight their potential as therapeutic agents against

Assessment of Risk Factors Related to Environmental Factors and Herd Management for Bovine Respiratory Syncytial Virus and Bovine Parainfluenza Virus‐3 Infections Frequently Observed in Beef and Dairy Cattle

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 11, Issue 4, July 2025.
In this study, molecular diagnosis of BRSV and BPIV3 factors was aimed and risk factors were tried to be determined by considering ‘environmental factors’, ‘herd management factors’ and ‘infection‐related factors.’ RT‐PCR technique was used for the molecular detection of pathogens and multivariate and univariate statistical analyses were performed ...

Thoracic Ultrasonography Findings and Their Association With Respiratory Pathogens in 221 Young Beef Cattle at Fattening Farms: A Cross‐Sectional Study

open access: yesJournal of Veterinary Internal Medicine, Volume 39, Issue 4, July/August 2025.
ABSTRACT Background Thoracic ultrasonography (TUS) could improve antibiotic treatment selection in cattle with respiratory diseases. Hypothesis/Objectives Evaluate the association between respiratory pathogens and consolidations on TUS in feedlot cattle, at both individual and group levels. Animals A total of 221 bulls, aged 8.8 months and weighing 322.

Silver Nanoparticle‐Mediated Antiviral Efficacy against Enveloped Viruses: A Comprehensive Review

open access: yesGlobal Challenges, Volume 9, Issue 5, May 2025.
Silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) exhibit broad‐spectrum antiviral activity by targeting key viral structures and processes. They disrupt viral envelopes, compromising integrity, and bind to nucleocapsids, impairing viral replication. AgNPs also inhibit glycoprotein interactions, preventing viral attachment and entry into host cells.

The synergistic antiviral effects of GSH in combination with acyclovir against BoHV-1 infection in vitro

open access: yesActa virologica, 2016
We have recently reported that bovine herpesvirus 1 (BoHV-1)-induced overproduction of reactive oxygen species (ROS) partially depends on NADPH oxidases (Noxs). In this study, we found that the decreased levels of main intracellular non-enzymatic antioxidant glutathione (GSH) during BoHV-1 infection also contributed to ROS production.
