Genetic characterization of bovine herpesvirus 1 (BoHV-1) isolates from India

open access: yesThe Indian Journal of Animal Sciences, 2012
Two bovine herpesvirus-1 (BoHV-1) isolates previously recovered from 2 animals showing different clinical symptoms, i.e. respiratory disease and balanoposthitis, were partially nucleotide sequenced at the gB gene. Aligned nucleotide sequences revealed high degree of identity among all the alphaherpesviruses compared in the study.

Risk Factors for Introduction of Bovine Herpesvirus 1 (BoHV-1) Into Cattle Herds

open access: yesFrontiers in Veterinary Science, 2021
Given that bovine herpesvirus 1 (BoHV-1) -the causative agent of Infectious Bovine Rhinotracheitis (IBR)- is still endemic in most European countries, BoHV-1 free herds are subject to a considerable risk of (re)introduction of the virus. The aim of this literature review was to describe published, quantified risk factors that are relevant for the ...

Bubaline herpesvirus-1 infection in Italian buffalo and potential impact on BoHV-1 eradication program

open access: yes, 2009
Bubaline Herpesvirus-1 (BuHV-1) belongs to the subfamily Alphaherpesvirinae, which includes as the prototype Bovine Herpesvirus-1 (BoHV-1). BuHV-1 infection in buffaloes is usually subclinical and the virus may be latent for long time.
