Transfecção de DNA de BoHV-5 com fosfato de cálcio em diferentes tipos de cultivos celulares [PDF]

open access: yesActa Scientiae Veterinariae, 2018

Genome sequence of bovine herpesvirus 5 (BoHV-5) isolate from India. [PDF]

open access: yesMicrobiol Resour Announc
ABSTRACT Recently, we identified bovine herpesvirus 5 (BoHV-5) in a vaginal swab from aborted cattle. It was unusual in two aspects: first, its association with abortion (it is otherwise mainly associated with encephalitis), and second, it is the first report from India (as it is mostly restricted to South American ...

Pantinin-Derived Peptides against Veterinary Herpesviruses: Activity and Structural Characterization. [PDF]

open access: yesChemMedChem
Pantinin‐1 and pantinin‐2, scorpion venom–derived peptides, show potent antiviral activity against caprine and bovine herpesviruses. Acting via virucidal action and inhibition of viral entry/fusion, they adopt α‐helical structures in membrane‐mimetic environments. These structure–activity insights highlight their potential as therapeutic agents against

Sequence analysis of the 5′ third of glycoprotein C gene of South American bovine herpesviruses 1 and 5 [PDF]

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Medical and Biological Research, 2015
Bovine herpesviruses 1 (BoHV-1) and 5 (BoHV-5) share high genetic and antigenic similarities, but exhibit marked differences in tissue tropism and neurovirulence.

Mapping the sites of latency and reactivation by bovine herpesvirus 5 (BoHV-5) and a thymidine kinase-deleted BoHV-5 in lambs [PDF]

open access: yesPesquisa Veterinária Brasileira, 2013
A thymidine kinase (tk)-deleted bovine herpesvirus 5 (BoHV-5tkΔ) was previously shown to establish latent infection and reactivate - even poorly - in a sheep model (Cadore et al. 2013). As TK-negative alphaherpesviruses are unlike to reactivate in neural tissue, this study investigated the sites of latency and reactivation by this recombinant in lambs.

Recombinant BoHV-5 Glycoprotein Elicits Long-Lasting Protective Immunity in Cattle

open access: yes, 2022
Bovine herpesvirus (BoHV)-5 is a worldwide distributed pathogen usually associated with a lethal neurological disease (meningoencephalitis) in dairy and beef cattle resulting in important economic losses due to the cattle industry. Using recombinant glycoprotein D of BoHV-5 (rgD5), we evaluated the long-duration humoral immunity of the recombinant ...

Phage‐Inducible Chromosomal Islands as a Diagnostic Platform to Capture and Detect Bacterial Pathogens

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 10, Issue 24, August 25, 2023., 2023
In this report, a new PICI‐based platform is showcased to detect and identify bacteria. In contrast to other diagnostic approaches, this strategy can additionally distinguish whether the pathogens are alive. PICI‐based infection of target hosts is simple and efficient, allowing us to demonstrate the implementation of the technique in an easy‐to‐use ...

BoHV‐1 affects abortion and progesterone in dairy cows Bovine alphaherpesvirus 1 (BoHV‐1) seropositivity, progesterone levels and embryo loss of 30‐day‐old pregnant dairy cows in Zagros Industrial Dairy Farm in Shahrekord: Examination and analysis

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 9, Issue 4, Page 1934-1939, July 2023., 2023
HIGHLIGHTS 1. This report presents the association between Progesterone, BoHV‐1 and abortion in dairy cows. 2. Seropositivity of the BoHV‐1 was related to abortion. 3. BoHV‐1 is recognised as one of the most important causes of reproductive disorders.
