In vivo performances, ileal digestibility, and physicochemical characterization of raw and boiled eggs as affected by Tenebrio molitor larvae meal at low inclusion rate in laying quail (Coturnix japonica) diet

open access: yesPoultry Science, 2021
: A total of 120, twelve wk old female Japanese quails were divided into 4 groups (6 replicates of 5 birds each). The control group (CON) fed a corn-soybean diet; in the other 3 groups, Tenebrio molitor larvae meal (TML) replaced 5, 10, and 20% of the ...

Transient boiling phenomena of high-temperature clod of grains in low boiling point liquid

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu, 2014
Vapor explosion is thought to occur under liquid-liquid contact condition. In addition, it is reported that a mass of grains and water also cause the transient boiling phenomena.

ShcD adaptor protein drives invasion of triple negative breast cancer cells by aberrant activation of EGFR signaling

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We identified adaptor protein ShcD as upregulated in triple‐negative breast cancer and found its expression to be correlated with reduced patient survival and increased invasion in cell models. Using a proteomic screen, we identified novel ShcD binding partners involved in EGFR signaling pathways.

Batch Extractive Distillation with Light Entrainer [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Use of a light entrainer in batch extractive distillation is justified when the mixture boils at a high temperature, or when an appropriate heavy or intermediate entrainer cannot be found.

Investigation of Batch Intensive Quenching Processes When Using Hydrodynamic Emitters in Quench Tanks [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The paper discusses patented in Ukraine a new intensive quenching IQ–2 technology based on film boiling resonance effect [1]. Namely, the paper discusses improving of the batch intensive quenching (IQ) process known as IQ-2 method by the use of ...

Targeting the AKT/mTOR pathway attenuates the metastatic potential of colorectal carcinoma circulating tumor cells in a murine xenotransplantation model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dual targeting of AKT and mTOR using MK2206 and RAD001 reduces tumor burden in an intracardiac colon cancer circulating tumor cell xenotransplantation model. Analysis of AKT isoform‐specific knockdowns in CTC‐MCC‐41 reveals differentially regulated proteins and phospho‐proteins by liquid chromatography coupled mass spectrometry. Circulating tumor cells

Critical heat flux maxima during boiling crisis on textured surfaces

open access: yesNature Communications, 2015
Enhancing the critical heat flux (CHF) of industrial boilers by surface texturing can lead to substantial energy savings and global reduction in greenhouse gas emissions, but fundamentally this phenomenon is not well understood.

BMP antagonist CHRDL2 enhances the cancer stem‐cell phenotype and increases chemotherapy resistance in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Overexpression of CHRDL2 in colon cancer cells makes them more stem‐like and resistant to chemo‐ and radiotherapy. CHRDL2‐high cells have upregulation of the WNT pathway, genes involved in the DNA damage response (DDR) pathway and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT). This leads to quicker repair of damaged DNA and more cell migration.

The Latest Method for Surface Tension Determination: Experimental Validation

open access: yesProceedings, 2020
The newest method for determining surface tension is being validated, which is done for the air–water interface. Since the relative differences between the benchmark values and the experimental results are very small, the newest method seems to be ...

Effects of Five Shucking Methods on Efficiency and Quality of Oyster

open access: yesShipin gongye ke-ji, 2022
In order to explore the impact of different shucking methods on the efficiency and quality of oysters, five methods such as boiling, steaming, microwave, ultra-high pressure, and electric shock were used to open the oysters.
