Abstract An analytic model of flow boiling crisis in annular flow (at high vapor quality) and our experimental results of Freon 21 are presented in the paper. The model is based on the analysis of the film drying process on the channel wall, thus expressing the mass balance of both the film and the core by means of differential equations.

The boiling crisis in saturated and subcooled pool boiling at reduced pressures

Abstract Values are presented of critical heat fluxes measured during the pool boiling of water at low pressures and under conditions of subcooled and saturated boiling. The fluxes are well correlated by the equation q sub q sat = 1·06 + 1·015 Δt sub p 0·474 for pressures of 760-100 torr.
