Merging Continuous Flow Technology, Photochemistry and Biocatalysis to Streamline Steroid Synthesis
Abstract Since their structural elucidation in 1935, the introduction and substitution of functional groups and the modification of the steroidal scaffolds have been a fertile ground of research for synthetic and medicinal chemists. The discovery of steroids with hormonal and pharmacological activity has stimulated tremendous efforts to the development

Abstract Introduction There are a variety of harms associated with anabolic–androgenic steroids (AAS), with some AAS associated with an increased risk profile for users. Despite potentially different risk profiles, these harms are seldom discussed with respect to specific compounds although recent ethnographic research has identified a need to do so ...

Investigations in carbon isotope ratios of seized testosterone and boldenone preparations
The carbon isotope ratios of black market products (n = 157 testosterone and n = 39 boldenone preparations) seized between 2013 and 2018 were investigated in order to prove their depleted 13C content compared with endogenously produced steroids. All boldenone and more than 95% of testosterone samples were found with δ13CVPDB‐values < −26‰.

Our findings identify the regulation of DNA methylation, acting as a primary mechanism, on TSPY1 expression in PCa, and reveal that TSPY1 is an androgen‐AR axis‐regulated oncogene, suggesting a novel and potential target for PCa therapy. Abstract Testis‐specific protein Y‐encoded 1 (TSPY1), a Y chromosome‐linked oncogene, is frequently activated in ...

Anabolic‐androgenic steroids (AAS) encompass a broad group of natural and synthetic androgens. AAS misuse is highly prevalent on a global scale, with the lifetime prevalence of AAS misuse in males being estimated to be around 6%, with 15 to 25% of male gym attendees using it at any one time.

Bioformation of boldenone and related precursors/metabolites in equine feces and urine, with relevance to doping control [PDF]
Boldenone (1‐dehydrotestosterone) is an exogenous anabolic‐androgenic steroid(AAS) but is also known to be endogenous in the entire male horse and potentiallyformed by microbes in voided urine, the gastrointestinal tract, or feed resulting inits ...

Examination of the antineoplastic effects of a range of chemical compounds is often undertaken via the transplantable tumor model of Ehrlich solid tumor (EST), which is a simulation of breast cancer. The purpose of this study was to explore how cardiac toxicity, damage, oxidative stress, and changes in the expressions of TNFα and apoptotic P53 ...

Boldenone-induced apoptotic, structural, and functional alterations in the liver of rabbits
Boldenone undecylenate (BOL) is an anabolic androgenic steroid used in livestock to improve growth and food conversion. This study investigated the actions of BOL on structure and functions of rabbit liver as well as the effects of its withdrawal ...

Background: The present study was designed to evaluate the relative ameliorating efficacy of lycopene against the deleterious effects of boldenone, an androgenic steroid, on the rat testis and kidney. Materials and Methods: 40 male albino rats were divided into four groups; control group received intramuscular (i.m) injection of olive oil once a week;
