Behavior of Fiber Glass Bolts, Rock Bolts and Cable Bolts in Shear

Rock Mechanics and Rock Engineering, 2016
This paper experimentally compares the shear behavior of fiber glass (FG) bolt, rock bolt (steel rebar bolt) and cable bolt for the bolt contribution to bolted concrete surface shear strength, and bolt failure mode. Two double shear apparatuses of different size were used for the study.

Quasi-autonomous bolt-loosening detection method using vision-based deep learning and image processing

Automation in Construction, 2019
In this study, a quasi-autonomous vision-based method is newly proposed for detecting loosened bolts in critical connections. The main idea of the approach is to estimate the rotational angles of bolts from the connection images by integrating deep ...

Investigation on the mechanism and control methods for roof collapse caused by cable bolt shear rupture

Engineering Failure Analysis, 2021
Roof collapse of mining roadways has always been key in the studies of the surrounding rock control. One of the critical factors lies in the roof separation and horizontal displacement which led to the cable bolt shear rupture, resulting in the roof fall.

Bolt early looseness monitoring using modified vibro-acoustic modulation by time-reversal

Mechanical systems and signal processing, 2019
Structural health monitoring (SHM) of bolted joints has played a vital role in estimation of bolt looseness and prediction of residual service life of bolted connections, thus saving money and significantly improving the efficiency of maintenance ...

Bolt

Proceedings of the 13th ACM Conference on Embedded Networked Sensor Systems, 2015
The wireless sensor network community is currently undergoing a platform paradigm shift, moving away from classical single-processor motes toward heterogeneous multi-processor architectures. These emerging platforms promise efficient concurrent processing with energy-proportional system performance. The use of shared interconnects and shared memory for

Role of washer size in mitigating adverse effects of bolt-hole clearance in a single-lap, single-bolt basalt composite joint

, 2021
Composite bolted joints are commonly used in various load-bearing structures. However, inevitable bolt-hole clearances in bolted joints reduce joint performance.

Bolt

ACM SIGOPS Operating Systems Review, 2017
Cloud providers routinely schedule multiple applications per physical host to increase efficiency. The resulting interference on shared resources often leads to performance degradation and, more importantly, security vulnerabilities. Interference can leak important information ranging from a service's placement to confidential data, like private keys ...

The nuts and bolts of systems

2016 11th System of Systems Engineering Conference (SoSE), 2016
This paper fills a gap in the systems engineering and project management education literature by providing examples of: 1. The effect of desired and undesired emergent properties. 2. How the System Lifecycle (SLC) relates to the iterative problem-solving process. 3. The relationship between the “what's” and the “how's” of systems engineering. 4.
