Constriction Resistance Through Bolted and Riveted Joints
Journal of Heat Transfer, 1990A correlation relating nondimensional macroscopic thermal resistance to the geometric variables of a bolted joint has been developed. The variables considered include the upper and lower plate thickness, the plate radius, the contact zone radius, and the bolt radius. Experiments were conducted using an electrolytic analog method.

Resistance factors for blind bolts in direct tension
Engineering Structures, 1997Blind bolts are developed to be used in applications where access for installation is from one side of the connection only, as in the case of connecting the end-plate of a beam to a hollow column. Blind fasteners offer many advantages including strengths and sizes comparable to A325 fasteners, potential use in tension applications as well as in moment ...

Tensile resistances of bolted circular flange connections
Engineering Structures, 2018Abstract A closed form solution for the ultimate tensile resistance of a bolted flange joint is derived considering yield line failure mechanisms developed by Igarashi et al. The position of the prying force is determined based on formulations previously developed by the authors.

Bolted Joint Interface Pressure for Thermal Contact Resistance
Journal of Applied Mechanics, 1971One of the parameters needed to calculate the thermal contact resistance across a bolted joint is the interface pressure distribution between the plates of the joint [1, 2]. As part of a study [3] on thermal joint conductance, a three-dimensional photoelastic analysis using the stress freezing technique was used to predict the interface pressure.

The breeding of Avonearly, a red beet variety resistant to bolting
Journal of Horticultural Science, 1969SummaryA description is given of work at Wellesbourne to breed a globe red beet (Beta vulgaris) variety resistant to bolting when sown in early spring. Selection for bolting resistance was carried out in a population made up from 70 to 80 Detroit varieties.

Increasing resistance of Helicobacter pylori to clarithromycin: is the horse bolting?
Pathology, 2002To determine whether there has been a change in the patterns of susceptibility to various antibiotics of our isolates of Helicobacter pylori over a 5-year period from 1996 to 2000.Five hundred and fourteen isolates of H. pylori grown from gastric biopsies were tested for susceptibility to amoxycillin, clarithromycin, metronidazole and tetracycline.
