Lost and Found: Western Honey Bee (Apis mellifera) Matrix Metalloproteinase 1
Despite considerable overall improvements in the Western honey bee (Apis mellifera) reference genome over the past two decades, some genes are missing in the current reference assembly (Amel_HAv3.1), potentially interfering with the meaningfulness of downstream analyses.

We extracted pollen from colony beeswax to quantify season‐long, colony‐level resource use and tested how managed Bombus impatiens visitation and Rosaceae pollen collection relate to landscape context and strawberry pollination. Increased managed bumble bee visitation was not influenced by surrounding landcover, did not reduce pollen limitation and ...

Measurement of electric charges on foraging bumblebees (Bombus terrestris)
Abstract Bumblebees carry electric charge. Almost always positive, this charge facilitates pollen transfer between bumblebee and flower during pollination and is likely to play a role in the detection of electric fields. Models of the Coulomb forces acting on pollen grains during pollination are predominantly based upon laboratory ...

Application of the fungicide Switch 62.5 WG in garden strawberry (Fragaria × ananassa), targeting Botrytis cinerea, reduced sawfly (Cladius spp.) herbivory by up to 94% and improved fruit quality. This non‐target effect also spilled over to neighbouring untreated plants, lowering damage by 46%.

A core linkage map of the bumblebeeBombus terrestris
The bumblebee Bombus terrestris is an economically important pollinator and an emerging model species in quantitative and population genetics. We generated genetic linkage maps for 3 independent mapping populations of B. terrestris. The linkage map with the highest resolution had 21 linkage groups, which adequately represents the haploid chromosome ...

Homing ability of the bumblebee bombus terrestris (hymenoptera: apidae)
The ability of bumblebees to locate their nest site following artificial displacement was investigated. Bombus terrestris (Hymenoptera: Apidae) workers were marked with numbered tags and displaced up to 15 km from their nest. Bees returned from distances

The Future of Native Bees in Australia Under Environmental and Anthropogenic Change
Bees are considered one of the most important and abundant pollinators across the globe, yet they are under threat from anthropogenic activities such as land‐clearing, urbanisation, agricultural activities, pesticide use, non‐native flora and fauna introductions, disruption of natural fire regimes, pollution and climate change, among others.
