Dietary Glutamine Supplementation Alleviated Rumen Epithelium Oxidative Damage and Apoptosis Induced by Feed Restriction via Maintaining Mitochondrial Homeostasis in Female Yaks

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
Dietary glutamine (Gln) supplementation increased the ATP levels and promoted cell proliferation in the rumen epithelium of feed‐restricted yaks. Besides, Gln inhibited ROS accumulation and reduced oxidative damage and apoptosis in the rumen epithelium of feed‐restricted yaks.

RNAi efficiency, systemic properties, and novel delivery methods for pest insect control : what we know so far [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
In recent years, the research on the potential of using RNA interference (RNAi) to suppress crop pests has made an outstanding growth. However, given the variability of RNAi efficiency that is observed in many insects, the development of novel approaches

Identification of Multiple Functional Receptors for Tyramine on an Insect Secretory Epithelium [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The biogenic amine tyramine (TA) regulates many aspects of invertebrate physiology and development. Although three TA receptor subtypes have been identified (TAR1-3), specific receptors have not been linked to physiological responses in native tissue. In

Molecular bases of insect odorant receptor function: specificity and evolution

open access: yesBiological Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Insect odorant receptors (ORs) are a class of chemoreceptors that insects use to detect volatile cues in their environment. In recent years, major advances in the field of structural biology have made it possible to obtain the first structures of insect ORs.

Complete mitochondrial genome and phylogenetic analysis of Bombyx mandarina strain Shiquan

open access: yesMitochondrial DNA. Part B. Resources, 2019
Bombyx mandarina is generally thought to be the wild ancestor nearest to the domesticated silkworm, Bombyx mori. Here, we report the complete mitochondrial genome (mitogenome) of B. mandarina strain Shiquan.

Virus-induced opposite effect on Bombyx mori gene transcriptions [PDF]

open access: yesInvertebrate Survival Journal, 2016
Bombyx mori bidensovirus (BmBDV) and Bombyx mori nucleopolyhedrovirus (BmNPV) are serious pathogens of Bombyx mori. In this study, we reported the changes of transcription level of several immune genes, including bmi, argo, dicer, cap1, cap3 and car ...

Forcibly Spinning Using Bombyx Mori Silkworm Anesthetized by the Water Narcosis Treatment

open access: yesJournal of Natural Fibers, 2021
Herein, the anesthetization of Bombyx mori silkworms via the water narcosis treatment by soaking in room-temperature water for 1 h was found effective in keeping the tensile strength of its forcibly spun silk filament comparable to that of naturally spun
