Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Bond behavior between steel bar and concrete considering cryogenic temperatures and confinement
Reinforced concrete (RC) structures exposed to cryogenic temperature environment, the bond performance of rebar-concrete is related to the characteristics of concrete material and rebar.

Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

Biophysical approaches for studying viral entry
Viruses infect all living organisms and have been responsible for major epidemics and pandemics. Their ongoing evolutionary battle with host defenses creates a constant need for improved tools to study viral behavior. Advancing methods to probe viral attachment, fusion, and genome release deepen our understanding of how infections begin and support the

Septin 9 polybasic domains couple phosphoinositide‐rich membrane binding to centrosome positioning, Golgi organization, and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity. Their loss disrupts this axis, causing centrosome mispositioning, Golgi fragmentation, reduced microtubule acetylation, and polarity inversion via upregulation of the ...

Bond Strength of composite CFRP reinforcing bars in timber [PDF]
The use of near-surface mounted (NSM) fibre-reinforced polymer (FRP) bars is an interesting method for increasing the shear and flexural strength of existing timber members.

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

An Experimental Study on Bond Behavior of Rebar and High-Performance Fiber Reinforced Cementitious Composite (HPFRCC) at High Temperatures [PDF]
In this work, it was attempted to explore the bond behavior of rebars in high-performance fiber-reinforced cementitious composite (HPFRCC) consisting of hybrid fibers with 1 and 2% by weight of binder for steel and 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, and 0.4% by weight of ...

Bond Characteristics of a Deformed Steel Bar Embedded in Donut-Type Voided Slab
In reinforced concrete (RC) structures, bond behavior between concrete and deformed steel bar (rebar) has a great effect on the structural behavior of members including voided slabs.
