Bond of Ribbed Steel Bar in High-Performance Steel Fiber Reinforced Expanded-Shale Lightweight Concrete

open access: yesBuildings, 2021
For the structural application of high-performance Steel Fiber Reinforced Expanded-shale Lightweight Concrete (SFRELC), a reliable bond of ribbed steel bar should be ensured.

Analysis of the relative rib area of reinforcing bars pull out tests

open access: yesMaterials Research, 2008
The good performance of reinforced concrete structures is ensured by the transfer of stress linking a reinforcing bar and the surrounding concrete. The bond steel-concrete is a very complex phenomenon.

Bond Characteristics of a Deformed Steel Bar Embedded in Donut-Type Voided Slab

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2022
In reinforced concrete (RC) structures, bond behavior between concrete and deformed steel bar (rebar) has a great effect on the structural behavior of members including voided slabs.

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Study of the block/grout interface in concrete and clay block masonry structures

open access: yesRevista IBRACON de Estruturas e Materiais
This work aims to study the behavior of the block/grout interface for concrete and clay block masonry. This was achieved by push-out and pull-out experimental tests including reinforcement bar in the latter one.

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Estimation of compressive strength based on Pull-Out bond test results for on-site concrete quality control

open access: yesRevista IBRACON de Estruturas e Materiais
Quality control of structural concrete has been conducted for several decades based mainly on the results of axial compression tests. This kind of test, although widely used, is not exempt from errors and has some considerable drawbacks that may affect ...

Electronic Stress as a Guiding Force for Chemical Bonding

open access: yes, 2011
In the electron-preceding picture of chemical change, the paramount problem is identifying favorable changes in electronic structure. The electronic stress tensor provides this information; its eigenvectors represent electronic normal modes, pointing the way towards energetically favorable (or unfavorable) chemical rearrangements.

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

Bond Stress between Steel-Reinforced Bars and Fly Ash-Based Geopolymer Concrete

open access: yesAdvances in Materials Science and Engineering, 2020
Geopolymer concrete has been regarded as one of the most important green construction materials, which has been restrained in engineering applications partially due to a lack of bond studies.
