A Biomimetic Lubricant Captures Hyaluronic Acid In Situ to Regenerate Cartilage: From Bench to Bedside

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
(a) The outstanding lubricative properties of natural articular cartilage arise from a composite coating composed of HA, lubricin, and phospholipids at its surface. Notably, lubricin facilitates the enrichment of synovial HA onto cartilage surfaces, and HA complexes with phospholipids, a key component to maintain extremely low friction under high ...

Evaluation of implant primary stability using different drilling protocols: an in vitro study

open access: yesBMC Oral Health
Background Implant surgery in the maxilla, particularly in regions with D3-D4 bone quality, poses significant challenges due to the low-density nature of the bone.

Targeting Endogenous Lipophagy: A Novel Strategy to Enhance MSC Osteogenesis and Mineralization for Senile Osteoporosis Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Schematic representation of the role of lipophagy in bone mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs). In healthy MSCs, functional lipophagy efficiently degrades lipid droplets to support oxidative phosphorylation and cellular energy production, thereby facilitating osteogenic differentiation and matrix mineralization.

Interface Wettability Transition‐Driven Drug Release and Dual‐Phase Functionalization in Implant Abutment

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A temporally controlled drug release coating is developed for abutments using a superhydrophobic coating self‐assembled on mesoporous silica. This surface provides sequential functionality: initial contamination resistance through non‐wetting, followed by controlled drug release via wettability transition.

Effects of different microfracture drilling parameters on bone quality: a finite element analysis

open access: yesFrontiers in Bioengineering and Biotechnology
BackgroundMicrofracture drilling is a surgical technique that involves creating multiple perforations in areas of cartilage defects to recruit stem cells from the bone marrow, thereby promoting cartilage regeneration in the knee joint.

Microfracture Versus Drilling of Articular Cartilage Defects: A Systematic Review of the Basic Science Evidence

open access: yesOrthopaedic Journal of Sports Medicine, 2020
Background: Microfracture (MFx) is one of the most common techniques used for the treatment of articular cartilage defects, although recently there has been a trend toward the use of drilling rather than MFx for the treatment of these defects.
