Bone mineralization and bone mineral metabolism in children with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis [PDF]
AbstractObjective. To identify mechanisms of the osteopenia associated with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis (JRA) by determining parameters of bone mineralization, and bone mineral content and density (BMC and BMD), in children with JRA.Methods. BMC and BMD were measured by dual x‐ray absorptiometry in 41 children with JRA and 62 healthy children.

Synchrotron imaging assessment of bone quality [PDF]
Bone is a complex hierarchical structure and its principal function is to resist mechanical forces and fracture. Bone strength depends not only on the quantity of bone tissue but also on the shape and hierarchical structure.

This review attempts to summarize the findings made available by the literature on the mineralization of bone. The types of bone, their structures and compositions, the nature and organization of organic and inorganic matter, the organic-inorganic relationships, and the mineralization mechanism itself, are the main topics of the present review.

Bone Mineral Affinity of Polyphosphodiesters [PDF]
Biomimetic molecular design is a promising approach for generating functional biomaterials such as cell membrane mimetic blood-compatible surfaces, mussel-inspired bioadhesives, and calcium phosphate cements for bone regeneration. Polyphosphoesters (PPEs) are candidate biomimetic polymer biomaterials that are of interest due to their biocompatibility ...

Bone Mineral Density at Diagnosis of Celiac Disease and after 1 Year of Gluten-Free Diet
Atypical or silent celiac disease may go undiagnosed for many years and can frequently lead to loss of bone mineral density, with evolution to osteopenia or osteoporosis. The prevalence of the latter conditions, in case of new diagnosis of celiac disease,

Does crystallinity of extracted bone mineral increase over storage time? [PDF]
It was recently shown that the crystallinity of extracted bone mineral samples from the fin bones of zebrafish could increase over storage time. This would have implications in many studies in which the samples need to be stored until analysis.

Gasdermin D (GSDMD) and gasdermin E (GSDME) perpetuate inflammation by mediating the release of cytokines such as interleukin-1β (IL-1β) and IL-18. However, not only are the actions of GSDMD in colitis still controversial, but its interplay with GSDME in
