Revision of a nonunited subtrochanteric femoral fracture around a failed intramedullary nail with the use of RIA products, BMP-7 and hydroxyapatite: a case report

open access: yesJournal of Medical Case Reports, 2011
Introduction Femoral subtrochanteric fractures are commonly treated using intramedullary devices. Failure of the implant and subsequent nonunion is still an issue, however, and limited evidence exists regarding the most appropriate treatment.

Bmp induces osteoblast differentiation through both Smad4 and mTORC1 signaling [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The bone morphogenetic protein (Bmp) family of secreted molecules has been extensively studied in the context of osteoblast differentiation. However, the intracellular signaling cascades that mediate the osteoblastogenic function of Bmp have not been ...

The Osteoblastic Microenvironment Determines the Fate of Breast Cancer Cells Disseminated in the Bone Marrow

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study revealed how the osteoblastic microenvironment determines the fate of cancer cells disseminated in bone, with a focus on whether they colonize, reside in quiescence, or reactivate from dormancy. Targeting integrin signaling may offer promising strategies for preventing quiescent cancer cells reactivation and bone colonization.

Genomics Insights Into High‐Latitude Adaptation of Tibetan Macaques

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Tibetan macaques exhibit unique adaptations to cold, high‐latitude environments, including shortened tails and enhanced fat storage. Genomic analyses reveal a species‐specific TBX6 mutation linked to tail reduction and selection on lipid metabolism genes.

Establishment and examination of an inducible bone morphogenetic protein 7 (BMP-7) expressing dental pulp stem cell line

open access: yesFogorvosi Szemle, 2018
Dental pulp stem cells (DPSC) from extracted adult teeth are multipotent cells which are capable of differentiation into various connective-tissue cell lineages, including osteoblasts and odontoblasts.

Navigating the Ethereal Tightrope: The Nanogenerator Manipulates Neurons for Immune Equilibrium

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This review explores how nanogenerators modulate neuroimmune responses, offering innovative strategies for treating neurological disorders. By interfacing with neural pathways, they enable precise control of immune activity, especially via vagus nerve stimulation.

The molecular genetics and cellular mechanisms underlying pulmonary arterial hypertension [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) is an incurable disorder clinically characterised by a sustained elevation of mean arterial pressure in the absence of systemic involvement.

Activating the Osteoblastic USP26 Pathway Alleviates Multi‐Organ Fibrosis by Decreasing Insulin Resistance

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The loss of Ubiquitin Specific Peptidase 26 (USP26) in osteoblasts results in decreased bone formation, as well as multi‐organ fibrosis associated with insulin resistance (IR). Mechanistically, the absence of USP26 reduces glycolysis and lactate accumulation, leading to decreased histone H3 lysine 18 lactylation (H3K18LA) in the promoter region of KH ...

Bone Morphogenetic Protein-7 Expression in Human Pyelonephritis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Bone morphogenetic protein 7 (BMP-7) is a member of the transforming growth factor (TGF) beta superfamily and is involved in regeneration, repair, and development of specific tissues, for example kidney and skeleton1–5.

Role of noncoding RNA in vascular remodelling [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Purpose of review: Noncoding RNAs (ncRNAs), such as microRNAs (miRNAs) and long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) are becoming fundamentally important in the pathophysiology relating to injury-induced vascular remodelling.
