Meniscal repair possibilities using bone morphogenetic protein-7
Injury, 2014This study analysed the influence of bone morphogenetic protein-7 (BMP-7) on cells and meniscal structure. The effect of treatment with BMP-7 was assessed in vitro and in vivo in lesions in the avascular area of the meniscus. Cells were extracted from the outer and inner part of eight menisci of four 2-year-old merino sheep.

Bone morphogenetic protein 7 ex vivo gene therapy
Drug News & Perspectives, 2003Acquired and congenital skeletal defects arise from trauma and developmental abnormalities as well as ablative cancer surgery. Reconstructive surgery to repair the functional limitations and aesthetic concerns caused by these defects can be complex and extensive, and therapeutic restoration of structure and function is often difficult.

Bone morphogenetic protein-7 selectively enhances mechanically induced bone formation
Bone, 2002The responses of bone cells to skeletal loading are clearly an important factor in bone biology, but much remains to be learned about the role of these responses in skeletal development, maintenance, and tissue repair. Bone morphogenetic proteins (BMPs) are key regulators of bone formation.

Cerebrospinal Fluid Contains Biologically Active Bone Morphogenetic Protein-7
Experimental Neurology, 2001Bone morphogenetic proteins (BMPs) regulate the development and function of many types of neurons. However, little is known of the actual concentrations of BMPs in the various parts of the brain. In this study, we considered the possibility that BMPs might be present in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF).

Bone morphogenetic protein-7 (BMP7) in chronic kidney disease
Frontiers in Bioscience, 2008Bone morphogenetic protein-7 (BMP7) is a member of the BMP-subfamily of perhaps a dozen proteins within the TGFbeta-superfamily of cysteine-knot fold cytokine-growth factors. BMP7 has pivotal functions during renal and eye development. In adult organisms, BMP7 is heavily expressed in kidney, specifically in podocytes, distal tubules and collecting ...

Expression of bone morphogenetic protein‐7 (BMP‐7) in human prostate
The Prostate, 2004AbstractBACKGROUNDIt is known that BMP is a factor that strongly induces bone formation in muscle tissue. However, the expression of BMP‐7 is not detected in normal bone tissues. Recently, we reported that the level of BMP‐7 expression was significantly higher in metastatic bone lesions than in normal bone and that the high expression of BMP‐7 in ...

Increased expression of bone morphogenetic protein‐7 in bone metastatic prostate cancer
The Prostate, 2003AbstractBackgroundProstate cancer frequently metastasizes to bone. The skeletal metastases of prostate cancer origin are osteoblastic rather than osteolytic. Recently, the expression of bone morphogenetic proteins (BMPs) in prostate cancer cell lines was detected.
