Potent Ectopic Bone-Inducing Activity of Bone Morphogenetic Protein-4/7 Heterodimer

Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1995
We have purified and characterized recombinant Xenopus bone morphogenetic proteins (xBMPs): homodimers of xBMP-4, 7 and heterodimers (xBMP-4/7) produced by a baculovirus expression system. Highly purified xBMPs had homogeneous NH2-termini predicted from a consensus motif, Arg-X-X-Arg, while they possessed diverse sugar chains.

A novel Xenopus homologue of bone morphogenetic protein‐7 (BMP‐7)

Genes and Function, 1997
We identified aXenopus gene closely related to mammalian bone morphogenetic protein (BMP)‐7 (also termed osteogenic protein‐1 or OP‐1). It resembles the mammalian gene in primary structure and expression pattern much more closely than does a previously described Xenopus homologue, originally termed XBMP‐7 [Nishimatsu, Suzuki, Shoda, Murakami and Ueno ...

Heparan sulfate is required for bone morphogenetic protein-7 signaling

Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 2003
Although genetic studies have suggested that heparan sulfate (HS) is involved in bone morphogenetic protein (BMP)-mediated embryonic morphogenesis, it is unclear whether HS is directly involved in BMP-mediated signaling. Here, we investigate the involvement of HS in BMP-7 signaling.

Bone morphogenetic protein-7: an anti-fibrotic morphogenetic protein with therapeutic importance in renal disease

Current Opinion in Nephrology and Hypertension, 2002
Bone morphogenetic proteins are members of the transforming growth factor-beta superfamily of cytokines and consist of a group of at least 15 morphogens involved in intracellular messaging through complex bone morphogenetic protein receptor mediated Smad signaling.

Endogenous Bone Morphogenetic Protein-7 Controls the Motility of Prostate Cancer Cells Through Regulation of Bone Morphogenetic Protein Antagonists

Journal of Urology, 2007
We investigated the effect of manipulating endogenous BMP-7 expression on the invasion and motility of prostate cancer cells and the resulting effect on its antagonists using a ribozyme transgene.A hammerhead ribozyme transgene was synthesized and cloned into a mammalian expression vector (pcDNA3.1/nt-GFP-TOPO).

Bone Morphogenetic Protein-7 Reduces Cold Ischemic Injury in Rat Kidney

Transplantation Proceedings, 2011
Deceased donor kidneys have a high incidence of delayed graft function attributable to ischemia-reperfusion injury. Although preservation solution and cold storage reduce cold ischemic injury, the depletion of cellular energy and oxidative signalling leads to cellular damage.

Bone Morphogenetic Protein 7 Regulates Sensory Neurogenesis

2017
Background: The trigeminal ganglion (TG) is a cluster of neuron bodies in the cranium that supplies the face and skull with sensory innervation. In the mouse, neurons of the TG supply the whisker pad that is important for spatial navigation and intraspecific communication.

Bone morphogenetic protein 7: a novel treatment for chronic renal and bone disease

Current Opinion in Nephrology & Hypertension, 2004
When last reviewed, bone morphogenetic protein 7 was presented as a potential new renal therapeutic agent, with multiple efficacies in chronic kidney disease. The object of this review is to describe progress from many sources since then in support or denial of the hypothesis.Bone morphogenetic protein 7 has been shown to be an effective defence in ...

Controlled Release of Recombinant Human Bone Morphogenetic Protein-7 in Nanoscaffolds

Nanomedicine, 2007
Evaluation of: Wei GB, Jin Q, Giannobile WV, Ma PX: The enhancement of osteogenesis by nano-fibrous scaffolds incorporating rhBMP-7 nanospheres. Biomaterials 28, 2087–2096 (2007) [1]. This publication is one of several recent articles that propose the use of nanotextured material for the delivery of bone morphogenetic protein (BMP).
