Repositioned Kirschner Wires as a Temporary Metaphyseal Block to Prevent Articular Extension During Opening‐Wedge High Tibial Osteotomy

open access: yesArthroscopy Techniques, EarlyView.
Abstract Lateral hinge fracture is a frequent complication of medial opening‐wedge high tibial osteotomy. Previous strategies—such as inserting an additional third Kirschner wire (K‐wire) from the lateral tibial cortex—reinforce the lateral cortex but do not address the potential fracture line that propagates proximally toward the tibial plateau and ...

Double‐Limbed Medial Patellofemoral Ligament Reconstruction Using Knotless Femoral Fixation Technique

open access: yesArthroscopy Techniques, EarlyView.
Abstract This technical note describes using knotless femoral fixation for medial patellofemoral ligament reconstruction for skeletally immature patients. Using a knotless anchor for epiphyseal femoral fixation in the skeletally immature decreases the risk of irritable interference screw fixation and optimizes graft contact with host bone.

Finite element analysis of the equivalent stress distribution in Schanz screws during the use of a femoral fracture distractor

open access: yesRevista Brasileira de Ortopedia
To evaluate the mechanical stress and elastic deformation exercised in the thread/shaft transition of Schanz screws in assemblies with different screw anchorage distances in the entrance to the bone cortex, through the distribution and location of ...

Autologous Cancellous Bone Interposition to Enhance Tendon‐Bone Integration in Hamstring Tendon Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction: A Surgical Technique

open access: yesArthroscopy Techniques, EarlyView.
Abstract Hamstring tendon autografts remain a popular choice for anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction due to their favorable biomechanical properties and reduced donor‐site morbidity; however, delayed tendon‐to–bone integration and tunnel widening continue to limit outcomes when compared with bone–patellar tendon–bone grafts.

Single‐Stage Anatomic Reconstruction of Anterior Cruciate Ligament, Posterior Cruciate Ligament, Medial Collateral Ligament, and Posterolateral Corner for Multiligament Knee Injury

open access: yesArthroscopy Techniques, EarlyView.
Abstract Multiligament knee injuries represent rare and challenging injuries that require complex surgical management to restore stability and function. Current evidence supports anatomic single‐stage reconstructions when feasible in order to re‐establish knee kinematics and enable early rehabilitation.

Technique for Lateral Opening Wedge Distal Femoral Osteotomy Using Patient‐Specific Instrumentation for Genu Valgum and Patellar Instability

open access: yesArthroscopy Techniques, EarlyView.
Abstract Recurrent lateral patellar instability poses a technical challenge to orthopaedic surgeons. Isolated soft‐tissue procedures through medial patellofemoral ligament reconstruction or lateral release show unacceptably high failure rates. Lateral opening wedge distal femoral osteotomy addresses underlying bony malalignment and reinforces the soft ...
