On the Rectilinear Crossing Number of Complete Uniform Hypergraphs

open access: yes, 2016
In this paper, we consider a generalized version of the rectilinear crossing number problem of drawing complete graphs on a plane. The minimum number of crossing pairs of hyperedges in the $d$-dimensional rectilinear drawing of a $d$-uniform hypergraph ...

Advanced Experiment Design Strategies for Drug Development

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
Wang et al. analyze 592 drug development studies published between 2020 and 2024 that applied design of experiments methodologies. The review surveys both classical and emerging approaches—including Bayesian optimization and active learning—and identifies a critical gap between advanced experimental strategies and their practical adoption in ...

Strip Casting of Sm2TM17-Type Alloys for Production of the Metastable SmTM7 Phase

open access: yesMetals
Conventional book casting of Sm2TM17-type alloys (where TM = Co, Fe, Cu, Zr) leads to a coarse, highly segregated microstructure, predominantly due to the slow, variable cooling rate from the mould surface towards the centre of the ingot.

Crossing Minimization for 1-page and 2-page Drawings of Graphs with Bounded Treewidth

open access: yes, 2014
We investigate crossing minimization for 1-page and 2-page book drawings. We show that computing the 1-page crossing number is fixed-parameter tractable with respect to the number of crossings, that testing 2-page planarity is fixed-parameter tractable ...

Effective Material Stiffness in Curved Actuators

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
A new actuator effective material stiffness measurement method is created. It produces a new metric called shape actuation modulus with the potential to help design actuators. This method shows that the smaller the curvature of hinge‐shaped actuators, the stiffer they are.

Medieval Dobrun [PDF]

open access: yesStarinar, 2002
An interesting and highly structured medieval complex, Dobrun has been attracting attention of scholars for a long time. Unlike the ruins of medieval fortifications, the remains of wall-painting in the former monastery church received most of the ...

Four Pages Are Indeed Necessary for Planar Graphs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
An embedding of a graph in a book consists of a linear order of its vertices along the spine of the book and of an assignment of its edges to the pages of the book, so that no two edges on the same page cross. The book thickness of a graph is the minimum
