Design Factors for Hydraulic Crane Booms

SAE Technical Paper Series, 1969
<div class="htmlview paragraph">Hydraulic crane boom design factors, such as loading, weight, extension method, and configuration are discussed with special emphasis on the practical aspects of their effect on mobility, lifting capacity, and boom length.

Control design for the rotation of crane loads for boom cranes

2003 IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation (Cat. No.03CH37422), 2004
This paper handles the control of flexible link robot systems. Since in the considered case a manipulator for grabbing containers is suspended on two ropes, torsional oscillation occurs changing the position of the manipulator. A control strategy, which consists of feedforward and disturbance observer based feedback control implemented on boom cranes ...

Kinematic Design of the Drilling Rig Boom

2019
Drilling rigs are widely used in mining and road tunnel construction. An important requirement for these machines is maintain the drill orientation constantly parallel to the main axis of the machine. In the work the problems of designing the kinematics of the drill boom mechanisms are considered.

Non-Linearities in Crane Boom Design

SAE Technical Paper Series, 1989
<div class="htmlview paragraph">The conflicting design goals of light weight and high strength influence decisions made during the development of many new products. Those products that are stability critical must be handled with particular caution.

DESIGN OF A CASCADE CONTROLLER FOR A FLEXIBLE SPRAY BOOM

Mechanical Systems and Signal Processing, 1996
Abstract Longitudinal accelerations and yawning angular accelerations of a tractor induce horizontal flexible spray boom deformations which cannot be reduced sufficiently by simple structural adaptations. An electro-hydraulic control system has therefore been developed in order to attenuate the negative effect of longitudinal tractor accelerations on

Design of a Forklift with Telescopic Boom

2008
This paper gives an overview of a design of a forklift with telescopic boom for manipulation with freight weighing up to 3 t and lifting height of up to 4 m. A model of mobile machine intended for computer simulation is presented and an evaluation of influence of disturbance on behaviour and safety of manipulation is derived.

Design of Ultrathin Composite Self-Deployable Booms

Journal of Spacecraft and Rockets, 2014
Recently developed analysis techniques for thin shells that can be folded elastically and are able to self-deploy are used to develop an iterative design approach for this type of structure. The proposed approach considers a series of potential designs and then evaluates, for each trial design, key performance parameters through a complete simulation ...

Design and Experimental Study on Telescopic Boom of the Space Manipulator

2017
This paper achieves the design of the key component of space manipulator – the telescopic boom and develops the principle prototype, to solve the contradiction between large working space, small load and fine operation, high rigidity, high precision in space manipulator handling operations.
