Improving the Reliability of Bootstrap Tests [PDF]

open access: yes
We first propose procedures for estimating the rejection probabilities for bootstrap tests in Monte Carlo experiments without actually computing a bootstrap test for each replication.

Growth of Omnichannel Grocery Retailing and Food Prices

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This paper examines the effects of the growth of omnichannel grocery retailing on food prices. We first develop a conceptual model of consumer choice and retailer pricing that allows us to evaluate changes in equilibrium prices, quantities, and profits with online channel growth and alternative pricing strategies.

Bootstrapping Networks with Latent Space Structure [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
A core problem in statistical network analysis is to develop network analogues of classical techniques. The problem of bootstrapping network data stands out as especially challenging, since typically one observes only a single network, rather than a sample. Here we propose two methods for obtaining bootstrap samples for networks drawn from latent space

The Art of Bootstrapping

open access: yes, 2020
Language workbenches are used to define languages using appropriate meta-languages. Meta-languages are also just languages and can, therefore, be defined using themselves. The process is called bootstrapping and is often difficult to achieve.

How Competitive Is Myanmar's Rice Sector? A Comparison of Production Costs and Efficiency

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This paper analyzes the cost competitiveness of rice production in Myanmar by examining production costs, cost efficiency, and the potential effect of improving cost efficiency on the country's global competitiveness. To achieve this, we conduct a comparative analysis of production costs among major rice‐producing countries and estimate the ...

Influence of Facility Size on Perioperative Outcomes in Minimally Invasive Esophagectomy for 14 152 Patients With Esophageal Cancer Based on the Japanese National Clinical Database: A Multicenter Cohort Study

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
This multicenter study investigated 14 152 minimally invasive esophagectomies (MIEs) using data from the Japanese National Clinical Database and showed a significantly lower operative mortality rate in high‐volume centers than in low‐volume centers. However, no differences in morbidity rates were found between facility sizes.

Higher-order Improvements of the Parametric Bootstrap for Markov Processes [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper provides bounds on the errors in coverage probabilities of maximum likelihood-based, percentile-t, parametric bootstrap confidence intervals for Markov time series processes.

Inverse Engineering of Mg Alloys Using Guided Oversampling and Semi‐Supervised Learning

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
End‐to‐end design of engineering materials such as Mg alloys must include the properties, structure, and post‐synthesis processing methods. However, this is challenging when destructive mechanical testing is needed to annotate unseen data, and the processing methods for hypothetical alloys are unknown.
