New and Efficient Estimators of Reliability Characteristics for a Family of Lifetime Distributions under Progressive Censoring

open access: yesMathematics
Estimation of reliability and stress–strength parameters is important in the manufacturing industry. In this paper, we develop shrinkage-type estimators for the reliability and stress–strength parameters based on progressively censored data from a rich ...

UNINFORMATIVE BOOTSTRAPPING [PDF]

open access: yesCladistics, 1996
The effect of uninformative characters on the “significance levels” obtained by bootstrapping in cladistic analysis is investigated empirically. Twenty‐eight data sets from Platnick's benchmarks are analysed with Siddall's Random Cladistics bootstrapping module and Farris’Hennig86 program, using 1000 replicates and exact calculations.

Chain ladder method: Bayesian bootstrap versus classical bootstrap

open access: yes, 2009
The intention of this paper is to estimate a Bayesian distribution-free chain ladder (DFCL) model using approximate Bayesian computation (ABC) methodology.

A comparative study of several bootstrap-based tests for the volatility in continuous-time diffusion models [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
This article develops three bootstrap-based tests for a parametric form of volatil- ity function in continuous-time diffusion models. The three tests are the generalized likelihood ratio test by Fan et al.

Bootstrap Confidence Intervals for Multiple Change Points Based on Two-Stage Procedures

open access: yesEntropy
This paper investigates the construction of confidence intervals for multiple change points in linear regression models. First, we detect multiple change points by performing variable selection on blocks of the input sequence; second, we re-estimate ...

Assessment of structures subjected to accidental actions using crisp and uncertain fragility functions

open access: yesJournal of Civil Engineering and Management, 2009
An application of fragility functions to the assessment of potential damage due to an accidental action is analysed. The assessment is carried out as an estimation of the probability of a foreseeable damage event (damage probability). This probability is

Exchangeably Weighted Bootstraps of General Markov U-Process

open access: yesMathematics, 2022
We explore an exchangeably weighted bootstrap of the general function-indexed empirical U-processes in the Markov setting, which is a natural higher-order generalization of the weighted bootstrap empirical processes.

Temporal Variation and Statistical Assessment of the b Value off the Pacific Coast of Tokachi, Hokkaido, Japan

open access: yesEntropy, 2019
: The Gutenberg-Richter Law describes the frequency-magnitude distribution of earthquakes. A number of studies have shown that the slope (b value) of the relationship between frequency and magnitude decreased before large earthquakes.
