Yttrium Complexes with Group 13 Heterobenzene‐Type Ligands

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, Volume 29, Issue 65, November 21, 2023., 2023
The gallabenzene‐type yttrium complex [(1‐Me‐3,5‐tBu2−C5H3Ga)(μ‐Me)Y(2,4‐dtbp)] (A) is readily formed from one‐pot‐reactions using mixtures [YMe3]n/GaMe3/K(2,4‐dtbp) (2,4‐dtbp=2,4‐di‐tert‐butyl‐pentadienyl), while the remaining pentadienyl ligand gets easily displaced by pentamethylcyclopentadienyl affording B, showcasing the strong interaction of the ...

Distinct Reactivity of Trimethylytterbium toward AlMe3 and GaMe3: Synthesis of Donor‐Stabilized Dimethylytterbium

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, Volume 29, Issue 23, April 21, 2023., 2023
Donor‐stabilized dimethylytterbium: Readily available donor‐stabilized trimethylytterbium reacts with AlMe3 under reduction via a methyl radical pathway to divalent bis(tetramethylaluminato) ytterbium. Contrary to this, addition of GaMe3 affords trivalent adduct [(Me3TACN)YbMe2(μ‐Me)GaMe3], which reacts with KC8 in THF to the first donor‐stabilized ...

Crystallographic Characterisation of Organolithium and Organomagnesium Intermediates in Reactions of Aldehydes and Ketones

open access: yesHelvetica Chimica Acta, Volume 105, Issue 9, September 2022., 2022
Abstract We report reactions of LiNacNac and NacNacMg(TMP) with common organic substrates (TMP=2,2,6,6‐tetramethylpiperidide). Using bulky β‐diketiminate compound NacNac (Me, Dipp), we have trapped metalated intermediates amenable to X‐ray crystallographic study.

Molecular Ln(III)−H−E(II) Linkages (Ln=Y, Lu; E=Ge, Sn, Pb)

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, Volume 28, Issue 45, August 10, 2022., 2022
Reductive alkane elimination reacting the aryltin trihydride Ar*SnH3 with donor free alkyl complexes [Cp*2Ln(CH{SiMe3}2)] (Ln=Y, Lu) in the presence of diethyl methylamine gives access to Ln(III)−H−Sn(II) linkages. The respective germanium and lead entities can be generated via exchange of hydrido‐bridged dimers [(Ar*EH)2] (E=Ge, Pb) and [(Cp*2Ln(μ‐H)2]

Half‐Sandwich Complexes [Cp′4Ln4I8]4 (Ln=Ce, Pr):Emergence of Donor‐Free Organolanthanide Nanowheels

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Inorganic Chemistry, Volume 2022, Issue 1, January 11, 2022., 2022
Tetramethylaluminato/halogenido exchange in half‐sandwich complexes [Cp′Ln(AlMe4)2] utilizing mild halogenido transfer reagents gives access to spherical {Ln12} clusters (depicted, Cp′ omitted) and {Ln16} ring‐cluster hybrids. The transformations are governed by ion size (Ln3+, Hal−) and the reaction control (stirring versus diffusion).

Oxidative Addition of Secondary Phosphine Oxides through Rh(I) Center: Hydrido‐Phosphinito‐Rh(III) Complexes and their Catalytic Activity in Hydrophosphinylation of Alkynes

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Inorganic Chemistry, Volume 2021, Issue 47, Page 4935-4945, December 21, 2021., 2021
Hydrido‐phosphinito‐Rh(III) complexes have been synthesized via oxidative addition of secondary phosphine oxides. These unusual complexes proved to be stable by the formation of a hydrogen bonded phosphinous acid‐phosphinito quasi‐chelate [(PO⋅⋅⋅HOP)‐κ2P]. Hydrophosphinylation of phenylacetylene has been studied using the new complexes as precatalysts.

Chiral Chromium(III) Complexes as Promising Candidates for Circularly Polarized Luminescence

open access: yesChemPhotoChem, Volume 5, Issue 10, Page 880-892, October 2021., 2021
Chromium wins the race? In the search for cheap circularly polarized luminescence probes with high quantum yields and high dissymmetry factors, chiral inert chromium(III) complexes are in the race due to recent drastic improvements. This minireview surveys the chiroptical properties of this class of compounds.

High‐Spin Iron(VI), Low‐Spin Ruthenium(VI), and Magnetically Bistable Osmium(VI) in Molecular Group 8 Nitrido Trifluorides NMF3

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, Volume 27, Issue 45, Page 11693-11700, August 11, 2021., 2021
In different states: Molecular hexavalent group 8 nitrido fluorides feature different electronic ground‐state d2 configurations in solid Ne matrices. While NFeF3 adopts a high symmetry structure, the heavier homologues are subject to symmetry lowering and spin‐crossover caused by a pseudo Jahn−Teller effect “hidden” in the excited states. For NOsF3 two

Effective and Reversible Carbon Dioxide Insertion into Cerium Pyrazolates

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 132, Issue 14, Page 5879-5885, March 27, 2020., 2020
