Membrane vesicles derived from Bordetella bronchiseptica: Active constituent of a new vaccine against infections caused by this pathogen [PDF]

open access: yesApplied and Environmental Microbiology, 2018
Bordetella bronchiseptica, a Gram-negative bacterium, causes chronic respiratory tract infections in a wide variety of mammalian hosts, including humans (albeit rarely).

Human infections associated with Bordetella bronchiseptica [PDF]

open access: yesClinical Microbiology Reviews, 1991
This study examines the potential of Bordetella bronchiseptica to act as a human pathogen. After encountering two patients from whom B. bronchiseptica was isolated, we searched the literature and found 23 reports in which a human infection was reported in association with B. bronchiseptica.

Bordetella bronchiseptica: a rare cause of meningitis. [PDF]

open access: yesBMC Infect Dis, 2020
Abstract Background Bordetella bronchiseptica is a gram-negative, obligate aerobic coccobacillus known to cause disease in domesticated animals and pets. In humans, B. bronchiseptica commonly leads to respiratory infections like pneumonia or bronchitis, and animal contact usually precedes the onset of symptoms.

Bordetella bronchiseptica bronchitis [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Microbiology, 1987
The clinical course of a patient with bronchitis caused by Bordetella bronchiseptica is described. The organism was recovered on one occasion from a protected catheter brush specimen obtained at bronchoscopy and on two occasions from expectorated sputum specimens. The infection was eradicated with antimicrobial therapy.

Type Six Secretion System of Bordetella bronchiseptica and Adaptive Immune Components Limit Intracellular Survival During Infection. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2015
The Type Six Secretion System (T6SS) is required for Bordetella bronchiseptica cytotoxicity, cytokine modulation, infection, and persistence. However, one-third of recently sequenced Bordetella bronchiseptica strains of the predominantly human-associated

Hemagglutination by Bordetella bronchiseptica [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Microbiology, 1982
A total of 53 isolates of Bordetella bronchiseptica from dogs and pigs were tested for their ability to agglutinate chicken, horse, sheep, dog, pig, and guinea pig erythrocytes. No differences in hemagglutinating activity were attributed to the animal origin of the bordetella isolates.

A wolf in sheep's clothing: Dogs confer an unrecognized risk for their immunocompromised master

open access: yesRespiratory Medicine Case Reports, 2022
Bordetella bronchiseptica is a pleomorphic gram-negative coccobacillus that commonly causes respiratory tract infections in canines, felines, and swine. Human infections are rare.

Thirteen-month duration of immunity of an oral canine vaccine against challenge with Bordetella bronchiseptica

open access: yesVeterinary Record Open, 2020
Background Very few studies have evaluated the duration of immunity of Bordetella bronchiseptica vaccines in dogs, and to date, no studies have been published on the duration of immunity of oral canine Bordetella bronchiseptica vaccines.
